    摘要: A method of evaluating the performance of a mobile telephone network having at least a first and a second simulation of a first and a second network configuration, respectively, which are statistically independent of each other. Each simulation includes the following steps: specifying a total number of users to be simulated; determining a sequence of activation of user blocks included in this total number of users to be simulated and indicating a traffic distribution; activating said user blocks in succession until the total number of users to be simulated is reached; and processing at least one radio resource management event relating to the traffic distribution associated with each currently activated user block. The simulations are repeated until a predetermined accuracy threshold is reached for each simulated network value.

    摘要: A mobile-radio network includes radio base stations providing radio coverage to the users of the network via antenna elements, wherein the antenna elements are equipped with at least one first communication channel and at least one second communication channel. The first communication channel provides a first layer of individual microcell radio coverage for the antenna elements. The second communication channel is made common to groups of the antenna elements and provides a second layer of virtual macrocell radio coverage, wherein the coverage of each virtual macrocell aggregates the microcell radio coverages of the antenna elements included in the respective group.

    摘要: A method for selecting a subset of sites within a set of candidate sites for activating one or more radio stations of a telecommunications network includes building an initial solution of a subset of sites starting from a network configuration having the whole set of active candidate sites; and optimising the initial solution for activating “inactive” sites and/or deactivating “active” sites, in order to minimise a predetermined cost function for the solution. The steps of building and optimising the initial solution are adapted to define both solutions that have a geographic coverage area that is greater than a predefined minimum coverage area and to manage an amount of traffic that is greater than a predefined minimum expected traffic value. A processing system and a processing program or group of programs can be executed by the system when pre-arranged for performing the above method.

    摘要: An antenna site equipped with reconfigurable antennas in a communication network and having capacity to serve communication traffic in a respective area of competence is configured by partitioning the area the area of competence into a set of cells. The number of cells in the set is optimized by ensuring that the traffic is evenly distributed among the cells. This result is preferably achieved starting from a reference set of cells by locating: —i) areas of superposition between adjacent cells covered jointly by traffic capacity of adjacent cells in the reference set of cells, and—ii) uncovered areas between adjacent cells, that is, areas not covered by traffic capacity of any cells in the reference set of cells. The areas of superposition are removed and the traffic capacity thus made available is assigned to the uncovered areas. If any uncovered areas remain, the number of cells in the reference set of cells is increased and the process repeated. If no uncovered areas between adjacent cells are located, the possibility exists of decreasing the number of cells in the reference set of cells and the process is repeated to check whether the area of competence can be properly covered with a lower number of cells.
