The pixels belonging to the service area pertaining to a predetermined cell are identified according to a criterion for selection in succession based on the values of a sorting function, which is a function of the quantity of traffic pertaining to the pixels being examined, and the resulting service area is computed as a set of the pixels of the cell progressively selected in a manner that the sum of the contributions of the individual pixel does not exceed a predetermined limit value of the load factor of the cell.
