The present invention relates to new fluoroketone compounds from the groups monobromoperfluoroketones, monohydromonobromoperfluoroketones, (perfluoroalkoxy)monobromoperfluoroketones, (fluoroalkoxy)monobromoperfluoroketones, and monochloromonobromoperfluoroketones. These fluoroketone compounds have utility in preventing, controlling and extinguishing fire.
