摘要: A developer unit for developing a latent image recorded on an image receiving member with marking particles, to form a developed image, including: a drive mechanism for moving the surface of the image receiving member at a predetermined process speed. A donor member is spaced from the image receiving member and adapted to transport marking particles to a development zone adjacent the image receiving member. A plurality of wires having a predefined tension are positioned in the development zone between the image receiving member and the donor member. A voltage supply to electrically bias the plurality of wires during a developing operation with an alternating current, to detach marking particles from the donor member, forming a cloud of marking particles in the development zone, and developing the latent image with marking particles from the cloud. A controller, responsive to the predefined wire tension, controls a modulation rate of the voltage supply to minimize harmonic resonant vibrations of the plurality of wires.

摘要: A novel wire module support structure for controlling the spacing and edge wire angle of an electrode wire relative to a donor roll in a scavengeless development process is disclosed. A stationary wire support is arc shaped with a rounded edge and is located in close proximity to the donor roll end. This spatial relationship between the donor roll end and the wire support surface optimizes the donor roll surface to wire relationship. The wire support surface may be at a greater or lesser radius than the the donor roll surface. When the wire support surface is located at a larger radius than the donor roll surface, a clamp assembly is used to control the height of the wires with respect to the donor roll surface.

摘要: In an electrophotographic reproduction machine including an image bearing member, latent image devices for forming on the image bearing member electrostatic latent images having a first polarity, and a hybrid development unit for applying to the latent images correct-sign toner particles having a second polarity relatively opposite to the first polarity, a method of automatically purging from the hybrid development unit wrong-sign toner particles having a third polarity relatively the same as the first polarity. The purging method includes the steps of counting and accumulating a number of image forming events performed by the reproduction machine for comparing to a stored predetermined number of such events, and of changing relative electrical bias values for a magnetic roll and for a donor roll within a housing of the development unit from imaging bias values to wrong-sign toner purging bias values so as to cause wrong-sign toner particles to transfer from the magnetic roll to the donor roll. The method also includes the steps of producing an electrostatic field on the image bearing member for causing wrong-sign toner particles to transfer from the donor roll to the image bearing member, and operating a cleaning device in contact with the image bearing member for removing wrong-sign toner particles from the image bearing member.

摘要: A Hybrid Scavengeless Development electrophotographic printing system is provided wherein the electrode wires contain carbon nanotube yarn. The use of carbon nanotube yarn alleviates the problem of fundamental strobing image defects, because the electrodes made from the carbon nanotube yarn can be put at a higher tension to density set point, and thereby achieve fundamental resonance frequencies larger than that obtainable from steel. Additionally the yarn's strength is sufficient to withstand the typical forces it is subjected to in a Hybrid Scavengeless Development environment.
