摘要: The invention relates to the technical field of radio communications, and in particular to an antenna device for a radio base station, and a method for precoding data in a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) system. Embodiments of the invention disclose a secondary precoder 24 in series with a multiple-input multiple-output precoder 22. The secondary precoder 24 has a plurality of inputs 34, 36 and a plurality of outputs 38, 40. The second plurality of inputs being in communication with each plurality of outputs 38, 40 such that one or more signals input to a respective one or more of the second plurality of inputs 34, 36 provides a substantially equal power of signals at the second plurality of outputs 38, 40.

摘要: In a transmitter using at least two transmitting antennas a STTD transmitter is used in combination with a common pre-coding transmitter for power amplifying power balancing. A selector can be provided for selecting data/channels transmitted using STTD and common pre-coding such that for one channel type, STTD or common pre-coding is used whereas the combination of both STTD and common pre-coding is used for a different data/channel type. By selectively using both STTD and common pre-coding for power amplifier power balancing, an improved power balancing is achieved. At the same time, the STTD gain is obtained in the relevant cases but the STTD loss in other cases is avoided.

The first plurality of outputs (30, 32) are in communication with the second plurality of inputs (34, 36). The antenna device further comprises a controller device (64), and the antenna device is operable to control an output power value of the one or more data streams at the second plurality of outputs (38, 40).

摘要: A transmitter for transmitting data in a cellular radio system is provided. The transmitter transmits data to User Equipment(s) using multiple transmitting antennas, using at least two polarization formers generating orthogonal polarizations of an input data stream. The transmitter further comprises a transmitter diversity arrangement adapted to receive input data to be transmitted to the User Equipment(s), where the transmitter diversity arrangement is connected to the input terminals of the polarization formers. By combining transmitter diversity with polarization former weights, orthogonality between multiple, in particular 4, transmitting antennas can be obtained.

The instructions to the UE comprise Transmit Power Commands as well as other instructions to the UE for the UE's uplink transmissions. The NodeB is arranged to use a first WCDMA slot format for the TPC commands to the UE and a second WCDMA slot format for the other instructions to the UE.

The beam forming instructions comprise information identifying a code book with one or more code words, and the NodeB is also arranged to transmit code words from said code book to the UE at a certain rate. The NodeB is further arranged to determine said rate based on dynamically varying information available in the WCDMA network, and to receive said information on the code book from an RNC upon configuration of the U E or to choose code book based on said dynamically varying information available in the WCDMA network.
