    摘要: There is provided a projection image display apparatus which is excellent in quality of a display screen image even if a projection lens using a plastic lens having an asymmetrical shape with respect to an optical axis is used. The apparatus includes a projection lens which obliquely projects video light on a screen, an integrator which aligns a polarization direction of light from a light source, and an image display element (P, PL) which modulates light having the aligned polarization direction by an image signal. The projection lens includes multiple plastic lenses, and each of the multiple plastic lenses is arrayed, respectively, by shifting a gate direction to each other by 180 degrees. When the projection lens includes n sheets (n is a natural number) of plastic lenses, each of the multiple plastic lenses may be arrayed, respectively, by shifting a gate direction to each other by (360/n) degrees.

    摘要: A projection type display apparatus including an oblique projection optical system having a plurality of lenses is disclosed. A lens nearest to a projection screen has a vertical effective image area through which a light flux passes. The lens is arranged at a position not including an optical axis shared by the largest number of lenses among the plurality of lenses. A flat mirror for returning the optical path is arranged between the particular lens and the projection screen at a predetermined angle to the optical axis. An enlarged image obtained by the light flux returned by the flat mirror is formed toward a display screen.

    摘要: Disclosed is a polarized-light converting unit, which is excellent in contrast performance and realizes high reliability and an increase in its life, and a projector device using the converting unit. The polarized-light converting unit includes first and second polarizing beam splitters provided in an integral form. The first polarizing beam splitter includes two incident planes on which two types of color light are respectively incident. The second polarizing beam splitter includes both a ¼-wave plate and first dichroic mirror, and a ¼-wave plate and a second dichroic mirror, both of which are disposed on two adjacent surfaces different from a junction surface with the first polarizing beam splitter and an outgoing surface thereof.

    摘要: In a reflection-type image projecting unit, being applicable into a reflection-type image display apparatus, being superior in contrast and achieving small-sizing of the apparatus, together with a light source for use therein, a light flux including three (3) color components, R, G and B, emitted from a light source portion 100, are modulated and synthesized by means of reflection-type liquid crystal panels 221, 222 and 223 in an optical engine 200, which is constructed with three (3) prism-like polarization light beam splitters, to be emitted therefrom, wherein those three (3) prism-like polarization light beam splitters are so disposed, that the G-component light of the three component lights R, G and B modulated on the reflection-type liquid crystal panel elements penetrates through two (2) of the prism-like polarization light beam splitters 231 and 232, to be emitted therefrom, while the others, the B-component light and the R-component light penetrate therethrough after being reflected thereupon, or they are reflected after penetrating therethrough, while taking the planes of polarization lights of the propagating lights into the consideration.
