摘要:
A tire (12) used includes a steel belt in its outer circumferential portion. A magnetic sensor (14) including a pair of magnetic detection elements (18A, 18B), which are arranged so that their magnetic detection directions become parallel to each other or series each other, is set in the vicinity of a rear tire (12) in a trunk room of a vehicle (10). Changes in magnetic field upon revolution of the tire (12) are differentially detected by the magnetic detection elements (18A, 18B), and the revolution of the tire (12) is detected on the basis of the differentially detected output waveform. Among a plurality of peaks present in the differentially detected output waveform, a peak, the potential difference from the immediately preceding peak of which is equal to or larger than a predetermined threshold value, is detected as an effective peak, which is effective for tire revolution detection, and the revolution speed of the tire is calculated by detecting the number of effective peaks.

A magnetization magnet (11) is brought into contact with or close to the outer circumferential surface of a tire (12) that has a steel belt in its outer circumferential portion, and is relatively moved along the circumferential direction of the tire (12) so that the magnetic field generated by the magnetization magnet (11) runs in the circumferential direction of the tire. (12), thereby magnetizing the tire (12). The entire perimeter of the outer circumferential portion of the tire (12) is continuously magnetized in one direction along the circumferential direction. After the polarities of the magnetization magnet (11) are inverted with respect to the circumferential direction of the tire (12), an angle range smaller than 360.degree. on the outer circumferential portion of the tire is continuously re-magnetized in a direction opposite to the one direction. In a magnetic field detection method, a magnetic field is differentially detected by two magnetic detection elements, which are set so that the magnetic field detection directions of the two magnetic detection elements are parallel to the side surface of the tire, and the two elements are juxtaposed in a direction perpendicular to the side surface of the tire.

A first portion of a perimeter of an outer circumferential portion of a tire is magnetized with a first polarity along the steel belt in one circumferential direction less than 360° and a second portion of the perimeter is magnetized with a second polarity in an opposite circumferential direction. The magnetic field generated by the magnetized steel belt is detected by two magnetic detection elements, which are set so that the magnetic field detection directions of the two magnetic detection elements are parallel to the side surface of the tire, and the two elements are juxtaposed in a direction perpendicular to the side surface of the tire.

A coin identification device for detecting a change in magnetic field due to eddy currents produced in a coin and identifying the coin on the basis of the detected change includes a path along which the coin moves, a sensor including two coils juxtaposed at a predetermined interval along the path and disposed such that a central axis of each of the two coils is in line with a direction perpendicular to an obverse or reverse of the coin moving along the path, and two magnetic impedance elements disposed respectively within the two coils to extend along the central axes of the two coils, and an identification circuit for outputting an identification signal for identification of the coin by differentially amplifying outputs of the two magnetic impedance elements.

When a through hole is formed in a primary conductor, a measurement target current partially becomes a bypass current that flows around the through hole. Only a magnetic field component in the X-axis direction is generated from the current that flows through a portion without the influence of the through hole. However, the bypass current generates a magnetic field component in the Y-axis direction at the tilt portion. A magnetic detection element having a magnetic field detection sensitivity only in the Y-axis direction is installed near the through hole such that the magnetic field detection direction is set in the Y-axis direction, thereby detecting the magnetic field component and measuring the current amount without the influence of a neighboring current.

An alternating bias current is made to flow through a coil wound around an MI device incorporated in an oscillation circuit, and an alternating-current bias magnetic field is applied to the MI device. An amplitude-modulated waveform corresponding to peaks which alternate between two different heights is provided at the output of the oscillation circuit in accordance with an impedance variation in the MI device according to an external magnetic field and the alternating-current bias magnetic field. The difference in height between the peaks corresponds to the strength of the external magnetic field. The output of the oscillation circuit is envelope-detected by an envelope detecting circuit, and an alternating-current component from which a direct-current component is eliminated is inputted to a comparator. The comparator provides an output signal having a digital waveform pulse-width modulated according to the difference in height between the peaks. The strength of the external magnetic field is obtained not from the absolute value of an amplitude of the output of the oscillation circuit but from a variation component in the amplitude.
