摘要： In an automatic document feeder for use in combination with an electrophotographic copying machine for feeding documents successively into the copying machine by separating and feeding the documents one by one from a stack of documents, the stacked documents are placed on a document table and are fed by a pair of rollers into a nip portion between a rotating separation roller and a separation plate having a rubber sheet applied thereto to separate and feed documents one by one from the lowermost one, and an edge detecting sensor for detecting a front edge of a document is arranged downstream with respect to the separation roller to produce an edge detection signal. When the edge detection signal is produced, the relevant document is once stopped at the front edge detecting sensor and after a start signal for denoting the completion of a copying operation for the preceding document is supplied from the copying machine, the relevant document standing by the front edge detecting sensor is advanced. An opening for manually inserting a document is provided at a downstream position with respect to the front edge detecting sensor and a rotatable lid is provided above the opening.

摘要： A actuating apparatus for an electrophotographic device having a photosensitive drum mountable through an opening of a sidewall of the device, a detachable lid to close the opening, and a separator pawl adapted to separate a recording paper from tight contact with the drum. The actuating apparatus includes an actuator secured to the separator pawl so as to move the separator pawl between an operating position substantially in contact with the drum and a retarded position away from the drum, a bias device normally urging the separator pawl to the retarded position, and a stopper integrally secured to the lid in such a manner that when the lid is attached in position to the sidewall, the stopper automatically engages the actuator so as to keep the separator pawl at the operating position, whereas when the lid is detached from the sidewall, the stopper disengages from the actuator so as to automatically move the separator pawl to the retarded position for clearing the path of the drum.

摘要： A stack of sheets such as documents to be fed one by one from the lowermost sheet is clamped between a lower feeding roller rotated in a given direction and an upper pressing roller whose shaft is loosely inserted in an elongated hole formed in a bearing secured to a rotatable arm. A coiled spring is connected between a free end of the arm and a fixed body of the apparatus to rotate the arm in such a manner that the pressing roller is urged against the stack of sheets with a large force due to the strong restoring force of the spring and the gravitational force of the pressing roller. A stopper plate is arranged in a rotational movement path of the arm at such a position that when a thickness of the stacked sheets has decreased to a given value, the rotation of the arm is inhibited by an engagement of the arm and stopper plate. After that engagement, only the pressing roller moves downward along the elongated hole and the pressing roller is urged against the stack of sheets with a small force due only to the gravitational force of the pressing roller.

摘要： A cleaning apparatus for a photosensitive member of an electrophotographic copying machine is provided. The apparatus comprises a cleaning brush disposed for contact with a photosensitive drum while rotating in order to remove unnecessary developing toner which attaches to the drum, means for moving the cleaning brush into contact with or away from the drum, a striker rod to strike off the toner attaching to the cleaning brush, and trap means for collecting the toner which is removed by the cleaning brush and the striker rod. An arrangement is made to cause an angular movement of the striker rod to change its surface for abutment against the brush in association with the movement of the cleaning brush into contact with or away from the photosensitive drum.
