摘要： Tape guides for a magnetic tape cassette comprise a half of cylindrical tube each adapted to fit securely over a support post within the housing of the cassette. The method of manufacturing the guides consists of forming thin-walled portions as grooves on at least the inner or outer side of a tube, with or without inwardly protruding ribs, which facilitate the division and provide a tight fit of the half piece to the post, and then dividing the tube along the plane into two halves. The tube is made of a metal, particularly brass or stainless steel, or plastics and formed by drawing or other irregular-shape forming technique, with polishing, plating, and/or precision polishing before division.

摘要： A tape cassette capable of permitting a reel spring to be readily and accurately positioned on a casing for its mounting to highly improve workability and productivity in manufacturing of the tape cassette. The tape cassette includes a reel spring which is abutted against tape reels for elastically holding them. The reel spring comprises a spring body formed at an intermediate portion thereof in a longitudinal direction thereof with a plurality of mounting holes through which the reel spring is mounted on an inner surface of an upper casing member. The spring body is provided on each of both sides thereof in the longitudinal direction with one or two positioning recesses, each of which is positioned adjacent to each of the mounting holes.

The cassette includes a spring for constantly urging each of hub braking levers in a direction of engaging the lever with a reel hub to selectively lock the reel hub. The spring is formed so as to have a substantially straightly extending or flat shape when it is unloaded or in a free state and arranged in a casing in a manner to be constantly kept deflected by cooperation of an urging element and a support element each provided on the hub braking lever and a holding element provided on the casing and constantly abuttedly held at one end thereof on a contact element provided on the hub braking lever.

The magnetic tape cassette includes an openable front lid and a rear lid arranged so as to cover a front opening of the tape cassette casing and is so constructed that the front and rear lids are provided with facing portions, respectively, which are arranged so as to face each other along an arc defined by the facing portion of the rear lid when the rear lid is pivotally moved relatively to the front lid to cover the protecting space for the magnetic tape and each lid is formed into an arc or slanting plane, resulting in the lids being closely associated with each other to a degree sufficient to ensure satisfactory sealing of the cassette when the front lid is pivotally moved to cover the opening of the casing.

An outer lid is pivotally mounted on the case to open and close the outside of the passage through which the magnetic tape is stretched along the front of the case. An inner lid is pivotally mounted on the inside of the outer lid to open and close the inside of the passage through which the magnetic tape is stretched. A slide member is formed on the inner lid. A guide groove is formed in the case to guide the slide member. The slide member is made of material different from the edges of the guide groove.

The locking means is provided with a pair of flexible pawls. A guide rib is fixed to the inner bottom surface of a cassette casing and between the pair of flexible pawls, the width of the guide rib being decreased toward the root of the pair of flexible pawls and a pair of guide pins are provided at the outside of the pair of flexible pawls.
