First, a plurality of nodes in the long-thin wireless network is classified into a plurality of clusters, in which nodes ranging from a child node of a bridge node to a next bridge node are classified as the same cluster. Then, a network address is assigned to each of the nodes, in which the network address includes a cluster ID and a node ID, the cluster ID is used for identifying the clusters and for routing a packet between the clusters, and the node ID is used for identifying the nodes in each of the clusters and for routing a packet in the cluster. An apparatus, a method, and computer readable medium thereof for dividing a beacon interval are provided. The beacon interval is divided into a plurality of sub-beacon intervals in various sizes and each of the sub-beacon intervals is further divided into a predetermined number of time slots. Each of the sub-beacon intervals is similar to the beacon interval, and the difference between them is their time lengths. Therefore, more time slots in various sizes are provided. Consequently, nodes covered by the beacon interval can choose suitable time slots to transmit data to reduce waste of bandwidth. In addition, more time slots that are sub-contention free periods are provided, so transmitting data via time slots that are sub-contention access periods can be prevented. It means that collisions and data transmission can be reduced as well.

A network address is assigned to each node of the ZigBee network, wherein each network address includes a cluster ID and a node ID. The cluster ID is used for identifying a plurality of clusters of the ZigBee network. The Node ID is used for identifying a plurality of nodes of each cluster. When a packet is transmitted, check whether the current node holding the packet and the destination node are in the same cluster. If they are in the same cluster, the packet is routed within the cluster according to the node ID of the destination node and a predetermined algorithm. If they are not in the same cluster, the packet is routed among the clusters according to the cluster ID of the destination node.
