    摘要: A nozzle attitude controller for use in connection with a farming apparatus for precision farming, the apparatus comprising an applicator vehicle, a boom supported by and extending across the rear of the vehicle, a manifold rotatably supported by the boom, a plurality of nozzles disposed from the manifold and oriented in a direction opposite to the direction of movement of the vehicle, but disposed at an angle with respect to the horizontal, the attitude controller including a linear actuator operated by a stepper motor and a radar sensor which connects to the stepper motor and which measures the speed of the vehicle such that pulses from the radar sensor to the stepper motor moves the linear actuator to change the angle of the nozzle so that the horizontal component of its velocity is equal and opposite to the speed of the vehicle.

    摘要: An arrangement for bathing invalids, or others with impaired ambulatory ability, comprises an enclosure having a bathtub with upstanding walls which form a stall. The bathtub includes a seat having an anatomical contour and a lateral opening adjacent the seat to permit invalid ingress and egress. A door with a generally wedge-shaped contour mates with and selectively closes the bathtub opening, and includes a seal compressed between the opening lip and the door to form a seal which is sufficiently leakproof to permit immersal bathing of a seated invalid. The door is slideably mounted on a hingeless track assembly, which vertically translates the door into the closed position and pivots the door as it is raised into a horizontal, overhead storage position. Shower heads are mounted on the walls of the stall to provide both shower and immersal bathing for hygiene and therapy. The bathtub seat and opening are mutually oriented so as to permit an attendant to laterally move the invalid from a wheelchair directly onto the bathtub seat with minimum strain and hazard.

    摘要: A chair, or other office furniture device, includes a first and second support member. The first support member has a longitudinal extent and a fluid passageway formed within at least a portion thereof. A first piston, having a first and second end, is moveably disposed in the fluid passageway. The second support member is coupled to the first end of the first piston. A fluid supply is disposed in the fluid passageway and communicates with the second end of the first piston. A pressure is applied to the fluid supply. A fluid flow controller controls a flow of the fluid supply and is operable between at least an open and closed position, wherein the fluid supply is allowed to flow when the controller is in the open position and wherein the fluid supply is not allowed to flow when the controller is in the closed position. In one preferred embodiment, the fluid supply comprises a magneto-rheological fluid, and the controller comprises a magnet moveable between at least a first and second position, wherein the magnet applies a magnetic field to the fluid supply when in the first position. In an alternative preferred embodiment, the fluid supply comprises a hydraulic fluid, and the controller comprises a valve moveable to an open position to allow the fluid supply to flow between the first and second positions. A method for moving a chair component is provided, along with a method for moving a support member on an office furniture device.

    摘要: Systems and methods for using power cycle events to cause a downhole tool to change its operational state and/or transmit a data stream to the downhole tool. In one embodiment, a tool such as a gauge for an ESP is positioned downhole in a well and is configured to receive power from a control unit at the surface of the well. The control unit power cycles the downhole tool to communicate a need to modify the operational state of the tool. The tool may include a non-volatile memory to store an indicator of the tool's current operational state. When the tool is power cycled, the operational state is modified and the indicator is updated. The power cycling may cause the tool to increment through available operational states, or the timing of the power cycles may convey parameters or other operating information to the downhole tool.
