One or more wireless communication devices, such as cell phones, will automatically log user-interface events (such as key-presses) and user-interface states (such as display screen state) and will transmit the log-data, via a wireless link, to a central server. The server will then compile the log-data and generate useful output reports regarding user-interface operation. Such reports can assist device manufacturers and distributors (e.g., wireless carriers), triggering changes in user-interface design so as to improve user experience.

    摘要: While a mobile node is engaged in a communication session via a first air interface channel, the user of the mobile node requests a vertical handoff. In response to the user's handoff request, the mobile node goes into a dormant mode to release the first air interface channel. The mobile node then acquires a second air interface channel, which may have a higher data rate than the first air interface channel, and continues the communication session via the second air interface channel. The mobile node may also determine that a vertical handoff may be available, e.g., by checking a preferred roaming list (PRL), and then indicate to the user that a vertical handoff may be available.

    摘要: A method, apparatus, and system for provisioning a mobile station with a destination communication address, such as a public safety answering point address for instance, during de-registration of the mobile station from a cellular radio access network (RAN). During de-registration of the mobile station from the cellular RAN, a location of the mobile station may be determined. The location may then be used as a basis to look up a communication address of a PSAP or other such destination, and the communication address may be provided to the mobile station in a de-registration response message, or the de-registration response message may be otherwise used as a basis to convey the communication address to the mobile station. Thereafter, when the mobile station seeks to place an emergency service call while not registered with the RAN, the mobile station may conveniently retrieve the communication address and place the call to that address.

    摘要: A mobile station stores power-limit data that identifies one or more defined locations and associates each defined location with a respective transmit power limit. The one or more defined locations may, for example, correspond to locations of high-priority signal transmitters, such as transmitters that transmit signals used for public safety communications. In response to a trigger condition, the mobile station determines whether its current location is proximate to any of the one or more defined locations in the power-limit data. The trigger condition may occur when a current transmit power level of the mobile station is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold value. If the mobile station's current location is proximate to a defined location in the power-limit data, the mobile station controls its transmit power level so that it does not exceed a transmit power limit associated with the defined location.
