摘要： An optical image reading apparatus for photoelectrically reading images formed in at least two colors on a surface of an original having a base color different from the at least two colors, including a first reading device for obtaining a first image signal for each of a multiplicity of reading spots in a predetermined area on the original. The first image signal has two different levels one of which corresponds to the base color and the other of which corresponds to the at least two colors. The apparatus further includes a second reading device for obtaining a second image signal for the each reading spot. The second image signal cooperates with the first image signal to discriminate each of the at least two colors from the other of the at least two colors. Provisions are made for determining whether the levels of the first image signals for all of the multiplicity of reading spots are equal to the above-indicated one level corresponding to the base color, or not. If so, the second reading device is inhibited from operating to obtain the second inage signal for each reading spot.

摘要： An optical reading including a device for effecting discrimination between a dither-matrix reading area and a non-dither-matrix reading area on a subject copy, an irradiating device for irradiating local segments of the subject copy with light beams having different intensities, a reading device for obtaining image data representative of the presence or absence of an achromatic tone in each local segment based on an amount of the light beam reflected by each local segment, a control device for operating the irradiating and reading devices to irradiate the local segments in a predetermined discriminating zone of the subject copy with the light beams having different intensities at different times, to obtain first and second image data, a device for comparing the first and second image data of each local segment in the discrimination zone, to determine whether the first and second image data agree with each other or not for each local segment, and a device for determining that the discrimination zone is the dither-matrix reading area, if a degree of disagreement of the first and second image data exceeds a predetermined reference value, and determining that the discrimination zone is the non-dither-matrix reading area, if the degree of disagreement does not exceed the reference value.

摘要： A thermal printer for printing on a planar recording medium, by heating and thereby coloring a thermally fusible material on the medium. The printer has a thermal print head having heat-generating elements each of which produces heat in contact with the surface of the recording medium, a feeding device for feeding the print head and the recording medium relative to each other, and an anti-sticking device for moving the print head and the recording medium relative to each other, to thereby prevent the print head and the surface of the recording medium from sticking to each other, when the heated thermally fusible material is solidified.

摘要： A method and apparatus for transmitting code data of a multi-color subject copy from a transmitter to a receiver in a manner that minimizes the volume of code data. The form of the data is determined by the capabilities of the receiver. The original images consist of at least two colors in addition to the background color of the copy sheet. A transmitter scans each line of the copy sheet to develop scan signals corresponding to the original images. The scan signals are used to prepare sets of run length code data and color discrimination code data indicative of the colors which appear in each line of the subject copy sheet. The transmitter transmits color discrimination code data and the corresponding set of run length code data to a receiver adapted to reproduce the transmitted data. The method of combining the scan signals to create the transmitted image signals and color discrimination code produce a condensed data strength.

Further, a sheet element made of a material of a low coefficient of friction, as opposed to the original, may be disposed at a position corresponding to the mounted state of the image reading unit on the transmission apparataus main body. Further, an image data transmission apparatus is disclosed which possesses the telephone function and copy function, and is also provided with, as desired, a facsimile function by mounting a detachable facsimile processing device in the transmission apparatus main body. Further, the operation panel may be, in order to use it as the original stacker, disposed angularly dislocatably around the axial line crossing with the original inserting direction.

摘要： An image data transmission apparatus, which may be used as a facsimile apparatus, includes an image data reader which is detachably connected to the main body. The reader can read image data from an original fed past the reader, or it can be detached and used to scan an original. A device exists within the apparatus, which detects the mounting or unmounting of the reader, and if it is detected to be unmounted and not being used, power will be shut off. Further, a device exists, within the apparatus, which, when the reader is detected as mounted, will print read data. Also, when the reader is detected as unmounted, read data will be stored in memory. Thus, a speedy and power efficient image data transmission apparatus has been created.
