Abstract: A method for setting a display white point comprises displaying images with a display including at least a first light source and a second light source. The first light source is configured to emit light having a first color and having a first temperature-dependent luminance change. The second light source is configured to emit light having a second color and having a second temperature-dependent luminance change. An internal display temperature is measured. Based on the internal display temperature being a first temperature, a first target white point is set to prioritize color accuracy. Based on the internal display temperature being a second temperature, greater than the first temperature, a second target white point is set to prioritize luminance output.

Abstract: Sensor calibration methods and systems can for providing accurate color values are disclosed. In one example, a method includes obtaining color measurements that indicate an amount of ambient light, as well as clustering the color measurements, and storing cluster parameters for the clustered color measurements. The method can further include automatic calculation of, for each cluster, generic transformation parameters for conversion of a color measurement to a calibrated color value. In another example, a method can include exposing a light sensor to a calibration ambient lighting, calculating sensor correction parameters for the light sensor, and storing the calculated parameters. As an additional example, an electronic device is adapted to determine calibrated color values with machine readable media storing cluster parameters, sensor correction parameters, and generic transform parameters used by the electronic device to calculate calibrated color values for ambient light sensor measurements.

Abstract: Systems and methods for determining a colorimetric value from color measurements for multiple ambient color sensors which for each color measurement, in various approaches, select a lighting cluster similar to the color measurement and determine whether the color measurement is valid or invalid based on a calculated similarity between the color measurement and the selected lighting cluster, calculate a weight for the color measurement for combination with other color measurements based on the calculated similarity between the color measurement and its selected lighting cluster, determine whether the color measurement is valid or invalid based on perceptual color space distances for the color measurement for multiple reference light sources, and/or calculate a weight for the color measurement for combination with other color measurements based on the perceptual color space distances for multiple reference light sources.

The peak brightness for an EDR display device is lower than the peak brightness for a typical HDR display device but higher than the peak brightness for a typical display device having standard dynamic range. The increased range of brightness values in an EDR display device can be utilized effectively to show bright highlights of the HDR video. For example, decision logic is configured to evaluate a peak brightness of a target display device and select an HDR-to-EDR tone mapping mode. A tone mapper is configured to apply tone mapping to input values for the sample values of HDR video, according to a tone mapping function, thereby producing output values for sample values of EDR video.

Abstract: A method for digital image color conversion includes, at a first computing device, capturing a first digital image of a first real-world environment. Based on ambient lighting conditions of the first real-world environment, a first ambient lighting-agnostic digital image is generated using a capture-side ambient lighting color conversion. The first ambient lighting-agnostic digital image is transmitted to a second computing device in a second real-world environment. From the second computing device, a second ambient lighting-agnostic digital image is received, the second image having been generated by the second computing device from a second digital image using the capture-side ambient lighting color conversion. Based on the ambient lighting conditions of the first real-world environment, a lighting-corrected digital image is generated from the second ambient lighting-agnostic digital image using a display-side ambient lighting color conversion. The lighting-corrected digital image is displayed on the first computing device.
