    Abstract: An apparatus for folding print sheets includes two folding rollers arranged on one side of a guide plane to define a folding gap. A compressed air device is arranged on the other side of the guide plane in a region of the folding gap. The compressed air device is connected to the compressed air source and to the control unit, and includes an exit opening for the compressed air that is focused onto the folding gap. Control elements can be activated by the control unit to change the time interval during which the at least one exit opening is admitted with compressed air, and/or the cross-sectional surface of the exit opening, and the pressure of the compressed air supplied to the exit opening may also be changed by a different control element, to adapt a compressed air blast to properties of the print sheet made available to the folding gap.

    Abstract: A machine produces an adhesively bonded book block. The machine has a clamp chain equipped with spaced apart binder clamps, which are connected to a clamp opening system. The clamp opening system has a movable internal aid for a binder clamp and an external aid, which are operably connected together. The aids open clamping jaws of the binder clamp. At a loading location for the book block, the external aid is operated by a drive to execute pressing operation on the movable internal aid. The moveable internal aid achieves an opening of the clamping jaws depending on a thickness of the book block. A recoil force is established with the drive-related pressing operation, which is converted as a pressing force onto the book block in a running cycle.

    Abstract: A separating element operates a transport device, which is configured to pile a plurality of partial book blocks for forming a book block along a book channel associated with the transport device, the finished piled book block being feedible to a processing machine. The book channel includes at least one transfer portion. At least one first separating element is arranged within the transport device as a link between an upstream transfer portion and a downstream transfer portion. The first separating element is configured to be operated by at least one drive and is configured to: receive a partial book block fed horizontally from the upstream transfer portion, horizontally transport the partial book block onward via the conveying portion formed by the first separating element, and then horizontally hand the partial book block over to the downstream transfer portion in keeping with a cycle.
