Abstract: A cycloconverter is described in which each supply phase has a separate circuit path to the load, each path having a separate pair of oppositely poled controlled rectifiers. This arrangement prevents circulating currents flowing and thus removes the need for large expensive reactors to limit these currents. Logic circuits for firing the controlled rectifiers both at unitary and at any load power factor are also described.
