Abstract: A stabilizer comprises a main bar that is elastically deformable, a pair of connecting plates respectively configured to be connected to a pair of left and right suspension apparatuses, and transition sections connecting both end portions of the main bar and the pair of connecting plates, a size of one transition section of the transition sections in a plate thickness direction of one connecting plate of the connecting plates gradually decreasing from the main bar toward the connecting plate, wherein the minimum value of the Vickers hardness of the transition section is 200 HV or more.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a stabilizer, the stabilizer including a main body bar that is elastically deformable, and a pair of connecting plates that are separately connected to a pair of left and right suspension devices, the method including a forging step of forming the connecting pate by forging both end portions of a material tube, in which in the forging step, both end portions of the material tube are crushed in a radial direction to be formed into the connecting plate in a state where a sealing metal plate heated to a temperature equal to or higher than a melting point is disposed inside both end portions of the material tube heated to a temperature lower than the melting point.

Abstract: A terminal sealed portion is formed on an end portion of a hollow rod made of steel. An enclosed space is formed on an inner side of the hollow rod. At an end of the enclosed space, a terminal gap is formed. A volatile powdered rust inhibitor is supplied in the enclosed space. As the volatile powdered rust inhibitor is vaporized, the enclosed space is turned into a rust-inhibiting atmosphere. As the vaporized component of the volatile powdered rust inhibitor is adsorbed to an inner surface of the enclosed space, an inner surface rust-inhibiting film is formed. The vaporized component also enters inside the terminal gap, and forms a terminal rust-inhibiting film.
