    Abstract: Provided are: a backlight unit that is capable of increasing the degree of freedom in design of a device on which the backlight unit is mounted; and a display device which is provided with this backlight unit. This backlight unit is provided with: a light source which emits light that illuminates a liquid crystal display element; a light collection means for focusing the light emitted from the light source on a display region (A) of the liquid crystal display element; and a reflective part which has a reflective surface that reflects the light emitted from the light source toward the liquid crystal display element. This backlight unit is configured such that the optical path for the light from the light source to the liquid crystal display element is replicated at the reflective part by having the reflective surface inclined to the optical axis (AX) of the light source.

    Abstract: Provided are a screen device and a head-up display device which allow the quality of a display image to be improved. The head-up display device comprises a screen device, a display for emitting projection light, and a focus position adjustment unit for receiving projection light emitted from the display, changing the distance to a focus position for at least a portion of the incident projection light, and adjusting the projection light to have different distances to a focus position. The screen device is provided with a light shielding part preventing first display light emitted from a first display image from reaching a second screen. The head-up display device emits the first display light from the first display image displayed on a first screen and second display light from a second display image displayed on the second screen, and displays the two display images, as virtual images through a windshield, the second display light being prevented from mixing with second projection light projected onto the second screen.

    Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a compact and low-cost head-up display device capable of creating a sense of depth in a virtual image. This head-up display device includes a light-emitting device, a reflecting mirror, and a screen. The reflecting mirror includes two reflecting surfaces that are a first reflecting surface having a flat shape and a second reflecting surface having a curved shape. The screen is composed of a first screen through which the light reflected from the first reflecting surface passes, and a second screen through which the light reflected from the second reflecting surface passes. The first screen and the second screen are disposed so that the length of a first optical path in which the light emitted from the light-emitting device reaches the first screen is different from the length of a second optical path in which the light emitted from the light-emitting device reaches the second screen.

    Abstract: A head-up display device projects display light from a display including a backlight unit and a liquid crystal display element on a viewpoint area of a viewer via projection means and causes an image by the display light to be visually recognized. The backlight unit includes: a light source emitting light for illuminating the liquid crystal display element; a lens array including a plurality of lenses, and dividing the light from the light source and generating a plurality of images of the light source; and light gathering means which gather the light from the images of the light source such that the light corresponds to a display area of the liquid crystal display element, wherein the lens array is configured such that the light distribution angles of the lenses at the periphery thereof are different from the light distribution angles of the lenses at the center thereof.
