Abstract: Linearizing Power Amplifiers' Outputs in Multi-Antenna System There is provided power efficient and simple structure for linearizing power amplifiers' outputs in multi-antenna beamforming systems. Beamforming factors are obtained for controlling transmission beams of the antennas in an analogue/hybrid beamforming system. At least one power amplifier model is determined on the basis of the power amplifiers' outputs and the beamforming factors. Predistortion parameters, for feeding a predistorted signal to power amplifiers for linearizing the power amplifiers' outputs, are determined such that after the operating parameters of the power amplifiers have been adjusted, errors in power amplifiers' outputs are reduced.

Abstract: This document discloses a solution for improving transmission characteristics of a communication signal transmitted from a transmitter. According to an aspect, a method includes arranging, in a transmitter, information to be transmitted to a receiver, to a plurality of spatial layers where each spatial layer is associated with a unique precoding configuration amongst the plurality of spatial layers, wherein the information includes at least one signal that is identical in a plurality of the plurality of spatial layers; performing, in the transmitter, a decorrelation operation across the plurality of spatial layers such that the at least one signal in one of the plurality of spatial layers becomes decorrelated with the at least one signal in another one of the plurality of spatial layers; and causing, in the transmitter, transmission of a transmission signal including the information in the plurality of spatial layers to the receiver.

Abstract: An apparatus comprises a digital processing device configured to generate a digital transmission signal, a digital-to-analog converter connected to the digital processing device and configured to convert the digital transmission signal into an analog transmission signal, and a power amplifier connected to the digital-to-analog converter and configured to amplify the analog transmission signal. An antenna filter is connected to the power amplifier and configured to filter the amplified analog transmission signal; the antenna filter is configured to pass frequencies in at least one passband and to attenuate frequencies in at least one stopband. The digital processing device is configured to perform a process of reducing peak power in the digital transmission signal; in this process error components having different frequencies are produced. A frequency spectrum of the error components is manipulated such that a part of the error components is deposited in the stopband of the antenna filter.
