Abstract: There is provided a method in a network element of a radio communication network, the method comprising: grouping, by the network element, a plurality of discovery patterns into at least two groups, wherein each discovery pattern comprises one or more discovery slots on radio resources for detecting discovery signals by a network node; associating at least one of the groups with a first spatial parameter and at least one other group with a second spatial parameter; and transmitting configuration information enabling a network node to utilize a discovery pattern belonging to a group associated with a spatial parameter that corresponds to spatial information of the network node.

Abstract: Improved adaptation to a frequency band comprising sub-bands is provided by receiving a coding rate of an error correction coding scheme for encoding modulation symbols to be transmitted on sub-bands of a frequency band in radio communications, determining relative radio channel qualities of the sub-bands of the frequency band, and allocating transmission power between the sub-bands at least on the basis of the relative radio channel qualities of the sub-bands and the received coding rate.

Abstract: A technique includes determining a number of available resources for a category of user devices, determining a number of user devices, within the category of user devices, that are connected to a base station, determining whether the number of available resources is greater than or equal to the number of connected user devices, allocating resources to one or more user devices within the category of user devices using a scheduling-based resource allocation if the number of available resources for the category is greater than or equal to the number of connected user devices within the category of user devices, and otherwise, allocating resources to one or more user devices within the category of user devices using a contention-based resource allocation if the number of available resources for the category is less than the number of connected user devices within the category of user devices.
