摘要： Apparatus including a horizontally movable carriage slidably supported by a track. A hydraulic cylinder and piston therefor are mounted on the carriage below the track. A fixed clamp is carried by the cylinder and a hinged clamp is mounted on the piston rod with both clamps projecting above the track. The carriage is reciprocated to feed a log, the ends of which are engaged by the two clamps, past cutting elements which straddle the track and clear the clamps. As the empty carriage is returned to the starting position, the hinged clamp folds beneath a preloaded log and later is moved towards the fixed clamp so that the log is gripped therebetween.
