    Abstract: Provided is an outer tube including a solid-shaped male-shaft portion and a bottomed cylindrical female-tube portion integrally formed with the male shaft portion. A hole cover is externally fitted to the female-tube portion and closes a gap between a dash panel separating the vehicle cabin interior and the vehicle cabin exterior of a vehicle body and the outer tube. In an assembled state in the vehicle body, the solid male-shaft portion is arranged in the vehicle cabin exterior, and an opening portion of a slide hole provided in the female-tube portion is arranged in the vehicle cabin interior.

    Abstract: An outer wheel element (16a) formed in an annular shape with a synthetic resin and having a worm wheel tooth part (19a) on an outer circumferential surface thereof embeds a radially outer end part of an inner wheel element (15a) formed in an annular shape with a metal. An outer circumferential surface of the inner wheel element (15a), which is radially superimposed with an engaging part between the worm tooth part (19a) and a the worm wheel tooth part serves as a cylindrical surface part (24). This realizes a structure capable of suppressing manufacturing error of the worm wheel tooth part engaging with the worm tooth part.

    Abstract: A first concave-convex part is formed in an outer diameter side circumferential surface of a first annular concave part provided in an axial one-side surface of an inner wheel element, and a second concave-convex part is formed in a bottom surface of a second annular concave part provided in the axial other-side surface of the inner wheel element. An outer circumferential part of the inner wheel element is embedded in an outer wheel element, and synthetic resin forming the outer wheel element partially enters into a plurality of concave parts constituting the first concave-convex part and the second concave-convex part. Thus, a configuration is achieved in which the holding power of a synthetic resin outer wheel can be secured from the metal inner wheel element, and the manufacturing error can be suppressed in the worm wheel tooth part provided in the outer circumferential surface of the outer wheel.

    Abstract: With respect to a linear motion shaft in which a rack shaft part and a ball screw shaft part are joined to each other by friction welding, coaxiality of a portion having a rack shaft part and a portion having a ball screw shaft part is improved. In a state where a gripped portion 56 formed on the screw shaft part 29 is gripped by a first gripping tool 57 for centering, and a rack shaft part 28 is gripped by a second gripping tool 58 for centering, end portions in the axial direction of the rack shaft part 28 and the screw shaft part 29 are abutted to each other while the screw shaft part 29 and the rack shaft part 28 are relatively rotated by rotating the first gripping tool 57, so that the rack shaft part 28 and the screw shaft part 29 are joined to each other by friction welding.

    Abstract: To provide a method of manufacturing a shaft for a steering device, the shaft including a spline shaft part to be coupled with an input shaft, a stopper part to be coupled with an output shaft, and an intermediate shaft part that couples the spline shaft part with the stopper part. The method includes: a step of forming a hole part recessed in an axial direction from one end of a pillar-shaped material by forging; and a step of pressing the material in which the hole part has been formed into a die to perform drawing in a radial direction on a portion of the material at which the stopper part is formed and prolonging a length along the axial direction of the hole part at the same time by forging.
