摘要: An assembly for testing the rolling contact fatigue of a test element for evaluating the differences in the fatigue life between like materials manufactured by different manufacturers or the fatigue life of different bearing materials, heat treatments, surface coatings, lubricants, operating variables, etc. The assembly is configured to rotate load balls around a track in contact with a stationary test element. By allowing the test element to remain stationary during the test, sensors can be installed directly onto or into the element. It is possible to configure the present assembly so that sensors may be placed within millimeters of the rolling contact test track effectively eliminating outside noise and error signals and increasing the accuracy of the sensor measurements. The stationary mounting of the test element also facilitates control of the temperature of the element. In addition, studies of crack initiation and propagation rates on a scale not possible before and the study of the delamination of surface coating would be made possible with the present invention.

摘要: The over-running clutch pulley (10) of a preferred embodiment of the invention includes a sheave member (20), a hub member (22) located substantially concentrically within the sheave member, and a clutch member (24), which cooperate to rotationally engage an input device (12) and an output device (14). The sheave member preferably includes a sheave input section (26) adapted to engage the input device, and a sheave clutch section (28) defining a sheave clutch surface (30). Similarly, the hub member preferably includes a hub output section (32) adapted to engage the output device, and a hub clutch section (34) defining a hub clutch surface (36). In the preferred embodiment, either the sheave clutch surface, the hub clutch surface, or both, have a surface microhardness greater than the hub output section.

摘要: The over-running clutch pulley of the preferred embodiments of the invention includes a sheave member defining a sheave input surface adapted to engage an input device, a hub member defining a hub output surface adapted to engage an output device, and a clutch cartridge. The clutch cartridge includes a sheave engagement sleeve coupled to a sheave cartridge surface of the sheave member, a hub attachment sleeve coupled to a hub cartridge surface of the hub member, and a coil spring having the first end attached to the hub attachment sleeve. The coil spring is adapted to engage the sheave engagement sleeve upon the acceleration of the sheave member in a first rotational direction relative to the hub member, and to disengage the sheave engagement sleeve upon the deceleration of the sheave member in the first rotational direction relative to the hub member.
