Abstract: A method, a computing device, and a non-transitory machine-readable medium for managing modes of operation for volumes in a node. A first portion of a plurality of volumes in a node is selected to operate in an active mode. A second portion of the plurality of volumes in the node is selected to operate in a passive mode. The second portion of the volumes that operates in the passive mode consumes fewer resources than the first portion of the volumes that operates in the active mode. The first portion of the plurality of volumes and the second portion of the plurality of volumes are adjusted over time based on activity of each volume of the plurality of volumes.

Abstract: Approaches for setting file attributes in a distributed file system using a multipart file structure are described. A request to set attributes for one or more parts of a multipart file is received. In response to the request, a rectify indicator is set to indicate the attributes for the multipart file that are to be set. Abstract: Presented herein are methods, non-transitory computer readable media, and devices triggering a metadata recovery process within a network storage system, which include: dividing metadata into metadata segments, wherein each of the metadata segments is tasked to perform a specific file system operation function, validating each of the metadata segments during the specific file system operation function; upon failure to validate at least one of the metadata segments, triggering an automatic repair process while maintaining the operation function tasked to the metadata segment, and upon finalizing the automatic repair process, resuming the specific file system operation function tasked to the metadata segment.
