A biasing member is provided which provides a bias action force and a bias reaction force, the action force acting to bias the release link towards its engaging position and the bias reaction force acting to bias the latch bolt towards its open position.

    摘要: A vehicle door module includes a lock attached to a constituent support panel of the module, which is shaped to press against the periphery of an opening formed in an interior panel of a door frame. The support panel being identical for a vehicle with two doors and for a vehicle with four doors. The lock assembly includes lugs for fastening the lock to the panel with lugs that differ for the type of vehicle. A first lug of a length suited to a two-door vehicle, and a second lug that is suited to a four-door vehicle. This arrangement makes it possible to use the same standard module for vehicles of different types and therefore to cut down on the corresponding investment needed for producing the module.

An actuator moves a driving abutment to move a detent between an engaged position retaining the latch bolt in the closed position and a release position freeing the latch bolt. A clutch member selectively couples a driving abutment with the detent. When in the latched closed position, the clutch member lies in a first position. The actuator causes the clutch member to selectively couple the driving abutment with the driven abutment to move the latch arrangement to the unlatched closed position, causing the clutch member to follow a first path. Movement of the latch arrangement to the unlatched open position causes the clutch member to follow a second path. Movement of the latch arrangement to the latched closed position causes the clutch member to follow a third path. The first path, the second path and the third path are different.

    摘要: A power actuator for shifting a vehicle door lock or other closure mechanism selectively between a locked condition and an unlocked condition by powered operation while also permitting manual operation with the actuator providing indexing of manual shifting between said conditions comprising: a) an operatively fixed housing; b) a motor driven driver annulus journalled in or on said mounting for powered rotation and having interior control formations, a first set of said formations being within first axial zone of the annulus and including spaced radially extending control notches separated by peripheral control lands, and a second set of said formations being within a second axial zone of the annulus and including a plurality of angularly spaced radially inwardly projecting camming lobes, each lobe being diametrically opposite but axially offset from a respective notch; c) an elongate index element movable within the annulus, a head part of said element carrying a drive formation co-acting with the second set of formations to transmit drive angularly displacing said element on powered rotation of the annulus and to provide said indexing by angular movement of said element relative to the stationary annulus during manual operation, and a tail part of said element carrying stop formation co-acting with the second set of control formations to regulate the displacement of the element relative to the annulus; and d) an output element coupled to the index element and to the mechanism in use to transmit one motion to the other characterised in that the tail part of the index element also carries a control projection co-acting with a control slot of the mounting extending radially of the axis of rotation of the annulus, said projection being offset further from head part of the index element than the stop formation whereby the index element can swing angularly about the axis of said projection but its tail part is otherwise constrained for displacement radially of the annulus only with the offsetting providing leverage through the stop formation to ensure appropriate alignment of interacting parts of the element and annulus in operation.

    摘要: Latch assembly for securing vehicle doors and other closures such as boot lids or tail gates co-acts with a conventional striker releasably retained by a pivoted claw or other catch mechanism to hold the striker in a mouth of the assembly. A displaceable jaw or, preferably, pair of opposing jaws conveniently form part of a unitary sub-assembly including a yoke connecting inner ends of the jaws which is displaceable inwardly of the mouth. The jaws have wedging surfaces that co-act with corresponding wedging surfaces of a latch body to provide laterally inward wedging action as the jaws are carried inwardly by the striker for positive non-rattle location of the latter. A resilient buffer may be provided which is compressed by the striker at the closed position.
