摘要: Provided is an optical switch element capable of adjusting an output strength of light output from an optical switch to a fixed level. The optical switch element includes: an optical coupler configured to divide an input light into N fractions of light and output the N fractions of light, where N represents an integer equal to or larger than 2; N branch optical waveguides connected to an output side of the optical coupler; N light absorption gates connected to the respective N branch optical waveguides; and N output optical waveguides connected to the respective N light absorption gates, the optical coupler, the N branch optical waveguides, the N light absorption gates, and the N output optical waveguides being connected to one another in order, the N light absorption gates each being controlled to adjust an output strength of transmitted light output from the N output optical waveguides based on a loss amount acquired in advance by a light absorption effect or light amplification effect of the N light absorption gates.

摘要: There is provided an N×N optical switch configured by connection between output ports of input side optical switches and input ports of output side optical switches by using optical waveguides on the same substrate and capable of reducing the crossing loss in a port connected to an optical waveguide having a maximum number of crossings and a higher crossing loss. In a 4×4 optical switch (10) having four input side 1×4 optical switches (SW11-SW14) each having four output ports (P1-P4), four output side 4×1 optical switches (SW21-SW24) each having four input ports (Q1-Q4), and connection optical waveguides (OW) connecting the output ports and the input ports, part of the connection optical waveguides OW are allowed to cross two or more of the other connection optical waveguides OW in one point.

摘要: An optical switch is provided which is capable of driving control by the same FPGA and the same driving circuit configuration, and hence is capable of driving at a high speed and a low consumption power. The optical switch of the present disclosure is a 1×N optical switch having a structure in which with respect to an optical switch, a driving circuit of the optical switch is integrated in the vicinity of a control electrode of the optical switch. The optical switch includes a plurality of 2×2 optical switches and N optical gates. Different bias voltages (Vb) are set between the optical switches and the optical gates, and a driver for the 2×2 optical switch of the driving circuit and a driver for the optical gate are of the same circuit form.
