    摘要: This invention relates to a data recording method or the like preferably being applicable to a case where it records data on an optical disc such as DVD+RW disc. When writing the data on block area A, if no normal write clock occurs correctly, it stops writing the data and performs replacement procedures on the area A. It then writes predetermined data on the area A using reference clock. It also records the data on next block area A+1 across the area A, thereby preventing the area A from generating blank portion therein on its rear side based on nonuniform rotation of the optical disc, etc. It records the data on the area A+1 using normal write clock. It then performs the replacement procedure on the area A+1. Thereby, it prevents the disadvantage such as a tracking servo failure in the areas A and A+1.

    摘要: A WBBM is recorded in a lead-in area of a rewritable disc. The WBBM is a bit map that represents whether each block that is a record/reproduction data unit is a recorded block or a non-recorded block. A finalizing process for recording dummy data in the vicinity of a recorded block is performed so that a read-only disc drive can seek a block and a servo operation of the drive can be stable. At this point, with reference to the WBBM, the efficiency of the process can be improved. When a plurality of WBBMs are ring-structured and the WBBMs are successively updated, the write operation can be prevented from being concentrated to the same area. In addition, a destroyed WBBM due to a power failure or the like can be restored. The value of an update counter represents the latest WBBM.

    摘要: A PCM signal editing apparatus with functions of storing in memories the edit-point proximate sample data of a first PCM audio signal reproduced from a first recording medium and that of a second PCM audio signal reproduced from a second recording medium, then reading out such sample data of the PCM audio signals at a desired speed from the memories respectively in a manner to attain a coincidence of the edit points, and cross-fading the signals at the edit-in point or edit-out point in a cross-fade time conforming with the read-out speed, thereby performing a short-time insert editing operation with high efficiency and sufficient certainty. Furthermore, the apparatus is so contrived that the editing conditions proximate to the edit points of the PCM audio signals can be aurally perceived with accuracy, and the access states of the memories are displayed by bar graphs to consequently render the editing state visually recognizable.

    摘要: A reproduction system includes a host apparatus and a reproduction apparatus for executing a reproduction operation with respect to a predetermined recording medium, both connected so as to mutually communicate. Defect management information is read from the recording medium for necessary address transformation so that the host apparatus can perform the defect management of the recording medium. When requesting the reproduction apparatus to reproduce data, the host apparatus transmits to the reproduction apparatus, physically-reading position information formed by performing address transformation in accordance with the defect management condition. The reproduction apparatus does not need to perform defect management when reproducing data from a read only medium but also a random access medium. This enables provision of a reproduction apparatus capable of using the random access memory medium, with the similar circuit size and cost of a reproduction apparatus adapted for only the read only medium.

    摘要: A signal recording apparatus and a signal recording method for recording moving pictures, such as, a movie, without certifying an optical disc recording medium are provided. A recording section 10 of a signal recording apparatus 1 records moving picture data onto an optical disc. A defective sector detection circuit 31 reads, from the recording medium, a physical block address corresponding to the logical block address of the moving picture data to be recorded and detects an address error. When the address error is detected, an address control circuit 32 stops read counting from an RSPC working memory 14. When the defective sector detection circuit 31 detects a sector of the next good physical block address after detecting the address error, the defective sector detection circuit 31 supplies a restart signal to the address control circuit 32 so that recording starts at this good sector. A random access memory 24 stores physical block addresses of defective sectors, and records a list of the physical block addresses of the defective sectors onto the recording medium after all the moving picture data are recorded.

    摘要: Apparatus is provided for controlling a web transport system, such as a tape transport, of the type having supply and take-up reels for supplying and taking up the web, respectively, a tension control circuit for controlling the supply and take-up tension of the web, a web drive, such as a capstan, and a sensor for sensing the movement of the web as it is driven. The control apparatus includes a web drive detector for detecting the operation of the web drive and, particularly, the speed at which the web drive is driven. A comparator coupled to the sensor and the web drive detector compares the actual speed at which the web moves and the speed at which the web drive is driven to indicate when the speed at which the web moves differs from the speed at which the web drive is driven, such as when the web slips with respect to the web drive. An adjusting circuit coupled to the comparator adjusts the tension control circuit when the web speed differs from the web drive speed.
