First and second optical fibers are arranged on one side of the lens at symmetrical positions with respect to the optical axis of the lens, and the optical thin film and a third optical fiber are arranged on the other side of the lens. An isosceles triangular block is arranged to simultaneously move the first and second optical fibers to adjust an incident angle and an emerging angle of the light made incident to the optical thin film. Alternatively, a movable isosceles triangular prism having two oblique reflecting surfaces is arranged.

In this method, an optical transmission line including an optical amplifier for giving a gain to WDM (wavelength division multiplexed) signal light is first provided. Gain equalization is next performed on the optical transmission line so as to obtain a gain changing substantially monotonously with respect to wavelength. Gain equalization is further performed on the optical transmission line so as to obtain a gain substantially fixed with respect to wavelength. A wavelength characteristic of gain changing monotonously can be easily gain-equalized by an active gain equalizer having a simple configuration. Accordingly, even when the optical amplifier has a nonmonotonous wavelength characteristic of gain, a gain tilt in the optical amplifier can be easily flattened.

    摘要: An optical device consists of integrated parts and is used for an optical amplifier. The optical device has first to third assemblies. The first assembly includes two optical fibers each for transmitting a beam and a lens for receiving the beams and providing collimated beams oriented in different directions at given angles. The second assembly includes an optical fiber and a lens to receive one of the collimated beams. The third assembly includes an optical fiber and a lens to receive the other collimated beam. At least one of the second and third assemblies has a second optical fiber. An optical film is arranged in front of the lens of the assembly having the second optical fiber. The optical film reflects an optical signal whose wavelength is different from that of the collimated beam. The two optical fibers of the assembly having the second optical fiber are coupled together through the lens and optical film, to pass the optical signal between the two optical fibers.

    摘要: Disclosed herein is an optical device including a fiber collimator and a plurality of fiber assemblies sequentially optically coupled to the fiber collimator by a reflected light path of a substantially parallel beam. The fiber collimator includes an optical fiber and a lens opposed to the optical fiber. Each fiber assembly includes an optical filter for providing the reflected light path, an optical fiber optically coupled to the optical filter by its transmitted light path, and a lens provided between the optical filter and this optical fiber. The lens of the i-th fiber assembly has a focal length equal to or greater than that of the lens of the (i−1)-th fiber assembly. With this configuration, a deviation in coupling loss or insertion loss due to beam divergence in the reflected light path can be reduced.
