    摘要: A foot rest for a road vehicle, for example, a motorcycle, is disclosed that is in the form of a square steel bar having the ends twisted 135*. The twisted sections are spaced from their respective ends, leaving a center portion untwisted, as well as the two end portions. To attach the bar to the motorbike, the center portion has formed two axially spaced slots having their openings on opposite sides of the square bar so that U-clamps around the motorcycle frame bars can engage the slots. The end portions each have a bolt hole extending between opposite sides. One bolt hole is disposed 90* to the other, to allow the bar to be formed by twisting it 270* in one operation, so that the bolt holes are aligned and are disposed at 45* to the slots. Pivotable foot pedals are bolted to the bolt holes, and the foot pedals can be pivoted to a vertical position out of the way when not in use.

    摘要: An inflatable bed pan is substantially flat so as to be easily implaced under the buttocks of a bed-ridden patient, but is inflatable by a hand operated bulb to provide a semitoroidal shaped member for supporting such buttocks above the bed. A bottom member extends across the torus and forms a closed receptacle. The torus is interrupted to provide an exit passage, and a flap is associated with said exit passage for opening or closing the exit passage. Air inlet and air outlet means for inflating and deflating the device are also disclosed. The semitoroidal member is provided with a ring of foam rubber on its upper and inner sides.

    摘要: An engine constructed to operate on steam or other compressed gases obtained from boiling liquids such as water, freon, or the like, and utilizing a closed system wherein the expanded gases are condensed and recycled. The engine includes two clusters of cylinders mounted for rotation about axes disposed at an obtuse angle to one another and which are connected by double ended pistons, the ends of which are likewise disposed at an obtuse angle to one another and operate in complementary cylinders of the two cylinder clusters, so that as the two cylinder clusters revolve as a unit, the cylinders engaged by the two ends of each double ended piston will move toward and away from one another so that said cylinders reciprocate on the piston ends, as the pistons revolve with the cylinders. A valve system supplies gas under pressure to complementary cylinders of the two cylinder clusters which are located in close proximity to one another and which are at a minimum volume, due to the pistons thereof being in close proximity to the cylinder heads. This causes the cylinder clusters to revolve by forcing the cylinders to which the gas is being supplied, to move away from one another in order to increase the volume of said cylinders and accommodate more gas as it enters the cylinder chambers. An output shaft is connected to one of the cylinder clusters and rotates therewith.

    摘要: A lateral pipeline being laid is connected to a main pipeline lying on the bottom of the ocean by a tie-in assembly that is connected to the lateral line above the surface of the water. The main line is equipped with a stub section of pipeline to which the lateral is to be connected. The angle between the lateral and the main line is measured and from this the tie-in assembly is designed. This assembly also includes two ball and socket type joints that permit limited misalignment between the sections of the tie-in assembly and the stub section of the pipeline connected to the main line and also allows relative rotation between at least two portions of the tie-in assembly. A connector assembly is used to connect the tie-in assembly to the stub pipeline section. An actuator is releasably connected to the tiein assembly above the surface of the water and lowered with the tie-in assembly into the water to actuate the connector assembly to connect the tie-in assembly and the stub pipeline section. This actuator can then be recovered and used again.
