Abstract: A treatment instrument includes a probe including a treatment portion which treats a treatment target part by ultrasonic vibration, and a back portion provided on a side opposite to the treatment portion. The treatment instrument includes a hollow sheath which surrounds the probe, the sheath having a cutout made to expose the treatment portion. The treatment instrument includes protrusion which is provided in the sheath to cover the back portion on a side opposite to the cutout and which has dimensions smaller than the dimensions of the probe in a direction that intersects with a central axis of the probe.

Abstract: An ultrasound device includes: an ultrasound generator; an ultrasound probe; and a distal end treatment portion capable of forming a bone hole when pressed against a bone. The distal end treatment portion includes a base portion, and a distal end portion. The distal end portion includes projections and a valley portion between adjacent projections. Each projection is formed of at least one excision surface that is inclined from a base of the projection to a distal top of the projection. The excision surface is capable of finely crushing the bone. The valley portion includes a valley peak at a distal-most meeting point of adjacent projections such that a surface of the valley extending distally from a point at which the valley meets an outer surface of the base portion to the valley peak is inclined.

Abstract: A treatment instrument which is used under an environment filled with an electrically conductive liquid includes a probe, a hollow sheath and an insulating member. The probe has a distal portion to chip a treatment target part by ultrasonic vibration and which allows the distal portion to function as one pole in a bipolar electrode. The sheath surrounds the probe. The insulating member covers the sheath except for a partial region on the distal side of the sheath. The partial region on the distal side of the sheath functions as the other pole in the bipolar electrode.
