An endoscope apparatus includes a scope including an imaging unit provided at a distal end of an insertion section to be inserted into an observation object, and a main body including a light source unit configured to emit illumination light that illuminates the observation object through the scope. The light source unit is configured to emit first narrow band light selected based on an absorption spectrum of a first characteristic substance, and second narrow band light selected based on an absorption spectrum of a second characteristic substance. The main body includes an image processing circuit configured to process image information acquired by the imaging unit. The endoscope apparatus also includes a display configured to display image information processed by the image processing circuit.
Abstract:
An endoscope observation method includes irradiating first and second narrowband light to an observation object. The first and second narrowband light have wavelengths at which absorbances of first and second characteristic substances related to a predetermined state of the observation object and contained in the observation object are mutually different. The method also includes performing imaging by use of reflected light of the first and second narrowband light from the observation object to obtain first and second image data, and forming a characteristic substance presence image regarding the presence of the first and second characteristic substance, on the basis of characteristic amounts of the first and second characteristic substances contained in the first and second image data.

An endoscope apparatus configured to acquire an image of an observation object includes a light source unit and an imaging system. The light source unit is configured to emit first and second narrow band light selected based on absorption spectra of first and second characteristic substances, respectively. The imaging system is configured to separately acquire first and second images by the first and second narrow band light, respectively. The apparatus further includes a characteristic substance region extractor configured to extract a characteristic substance region related to the first characteristic substance on the first image and/or a characteristic substance region related to the second characteristic substance on the second image.

An endoscope includes an illuminator to emit illumination light comprised by narrow band lights different in wavelength from an end portion of the endoscope and an imager to image an observation object illuminated by the illumination light emitted from the illuminator. The illuminator includes a light quantity output adjuster to independently control the light quantity of each of the narrow band lights. The endoscope allows observation in three types of modes of a white light mode, a special light mode, and a hybrid mode. A spectral pattern of illumination light in the hybrid mode includes at least a part of a color region of a narrow band light included in the special light mode and is different from either of a spectral pattern of illumination light in the white light mode and a spectral pattern of illumination light in the special light mode.
