Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed to a medical instrument for endoscopic use. The medical instrument comprises an elongated open ended over tube configured to receive an endoscope in a direction along a longitudinal central axis of the over tube. The endoscope travels retractably from a distal end of the over tube. A tube is disposed concentrically outwardly of the over tube so that a treatment tool is inserted through the tube and is projected forwardly with respect to the over tube from a distal end of the tube. A balloon is disposed on an external surface of the over tube and is expandable outwardly in a radial direction of the over tube.

Abstract: An endoscope treatment tool includes a sheath having electric insulation; and an electrode unit provided at a distal end portion of the sheath. The electrode unit includes a rod-shaped electrode that is provided to extend in an axis direction of the sheath and is capable of being arranged in a state where the electrode protrudes from the distal end portion of the sheath and is exposed to the outside; and a chip that is fixed in a state where a distal end portion of the electrode is inserted into a concave portion provided in a proximal end surface so as to extend in the axis direction, has a greater external diameter than the external diameter of the electrode, and is formed from a single electric insulation material. The concave portion is formed with a smaller-diameter portion that allows the distal end portion of the electrode to be inserted thereinto.

Abstract: An endoscope treatment tool includes: a cylindrical cap attached to an outer side of a distal-end section of an endoscope and having first and second radial directions intersecting each other; a treatment tool supported at an outer side of the cap in the first radial direction to be movable in the longitudinal direction; and a linear flexible coupling member coupling the treatment tool with the cap such that the grasper reaches a position where the grasper protrudes from a distal end of the cap. A swing section of the coupling member couples the cap with the treatment tool to allow relative movement in the second radial direction, and, in response to pressed forward in the longitudinal direction by the treatment tool, swings about a swing axis extending in the second radial direction while generating a tensile force and bending the treatment tool inward in the first radial direction.

Abstract: The disclosed technology is directed to a method of operating a treatment tool for excising a lesioned portion of a body tissue. The method comprises applying a treatment tool to the lesioned portion. The treatment tool includes an elongated sheath having a snare wire disposed therein. The snare wire is configured to be movable forward or backward along a longitudinal direction. Next, forming the snare wire into a loop and tilting the loop in a plane transverse to the longitudinal axis of the elongated sheath with a force tending to push a snare wire portion out of a distal-end opening of the elongated sheath. And finally, placing the loop around the lesioned portion of the body tissue to excise the lesioned portion in a state in which the snare wire positioned transverse to the lesioned portion.
