Abstract: In a continuous process for capping tubular filter elements, Fig. 2 (not shown) the caps 3 are fed in a series from a storage reservoir 2 to a stage 8 where a bonding agent e.g. thermosetting, themo-plastic resins and thermo-plastic binders, is ejected onto the caps from a dispenser 9. The bonding agent is uniformly distributed on the cap and maintained flowable by heating during transit over section 23 i.e. between stage 8 and a point D, where an operator pushes a filter cylinder firmly into the pool of bonding agent. The composites are fed over section 27, suitably heated to effect the curing of the bonding agent. On reaching an accumulation table 30, the composite is retrieved, inverted and the remaining open end of the tube is pushed into another cap, the seal being likewise effected.
