Abstract: A head-up display is configured to project an image on a transparent reflection member to cause an observer to visually recognize a virtual image, and includes a display device configured to display the image, and a projection optical system configured to project the image displayed by the display device as the virtual image for the observer. The projection optical system is configured to form the image as an intermediate image, and includes a first optical element configured to condense light, a first lens configured to condense light, and a second optical element configured to diffuse light. Abstract: The optical system includes a light guide guiding an image light ray including a first light ray with a first wavelength range and a second light ray with a second wavelength range having wavelengths shorter than wavelengths in the first wavelength range, to a field of view region as a virtual image. The light guide includes a first dividing region including first dividing points dividing the incident first light ray and a second dividing region including second dividing points dividing the incident second light ray. The first dividing points include first and second points respectively corresponding to first and second peripheral regions of the field of view region. The second dividing points include third and fourth points respectively corresponding to the first and second peripheral regions. Dividing efficiencies E1 to E4 at the first to fourth points satisfy the following formula (1).

Abstract: The head-up display includes an imaging position changer configured to change a position of a virtual image between a far visual position far from an observer and a near visual position close to the observer. The imaging position changer inclines the virtual image at the far visual position by a second inclination angle with respect to a perpendicular plane to a reference light beam reaching a center of a viewpoint region in which a viewpoint of the observer is located, to move an upper end thereof in a forward direction of the moving object, and inclines the virtual image at the near visual position by a first inclination angle smaller than the second inclination angle with respect to the perpendicular plane to the reference light beam, to move the upper end in the forward direction of the moving object.

Abstract: A refractive optical system is disposed in an optical path from a display surface to a viewing area and between a projection optical system and the viewing area. A housing receives a display device, the projection optical system, and the refractive optical system, and is provided with an opening. An opening cover has at least partially a curved portion, and is disposed in the opening so that light emitted from the display surface is incident on a convex side of the curved portion. When a light beam that is emitted from a center of the display surface and reaches a center of the viewing area is referred to as a reference light beam, a head-up display satisfies the following condition (1): L2≦L1 (1) whereL1 is a distance from an end on the anterior side of the observer of the refractive optical system to the opening cover, andL2 is a distance from a position at which the reference light beam passes through the refractive optical system to the opening cover.

Abstract: A head-up display system displays a virtual image superimposed on a real view that can be visually recognized through a window part. The head-up display system includes a display part, an optical system, a light source part, an operation part, and a controller. The controller controls a display area of the display part in accordance with an operation of the operation part by the observer. The light flux emitted from the display part is reflected by the window part and reaches a visually recognizable area where the observer can visually recognize the virtual image. The light emitted from the light source part is reflected inside an area where the light flux is reflected by the window part and reaches the visually recognizable area. The virtual image and the light from the light source part are superimposed, and can be visually recognized.

First light emitted from the display passes through the light-transmissive cover via the optical system, and is reflected by a windshield toward a direction of the user. The driver monitoring camera captures an image of a driver shown on the light-transmissive cover by second light from a direction of the driver reflected by the windshield toward a direction of the light-transmissive cover.
