Abstract: An aerosol-forming cartridge includes a housing defining a cartridge body and having a housing interior, an aerosol-forming substrate reservoir fixed within the housing interior, and a revolver element rotatably fixed to the housing interior and having two or more chambers disposed about the revolver element. The aerosol-forming substrate reservoir contains a volume of aerosol-forming substrate. The aerosol-forming substrate is a gel. A bias element applies force to the volume of aerosol-forming substrate. The aerosol-forming substrate reservoir having an outlet aperture. The two or more chambers of the revolver are sequentially aligned with the outlet aperture as the revolver element rotates.

Abstract: There is provided an inductive heating assembly to inductively heat an aerosol-forming substrate to an operating temperature, the assembly including an induction source connected to a DC power supply to generate an alternating electromagnetic field to inductively heat a susceptor assembly including a first susceptor and a second susceptor having a Curie temperature below the operating temperature, and a controller operatively connected to the induction source and the DC power supply, to determine an actual apparent resistance of the susceptor assembly indicative of the actual temperature of the susceptor assembly, to determine a minimum value of the apparent resistance occurring during pre-heating of the susceptor assembly, and to control operation of the induction source such that the actual apparent resistance corresponds to the determined minimum value of the apparent resistance plus a pre-determined offset value of the apparent resistance to control heating of the substrate to the operating temperature.

Abstract: A heater is provided for heating an aerosol-forming substrate, the heater including: a heating element to heat the aerosol-forming substrate, the heating element including at least one positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistor, the PTC thermistor being configured to be supplied with an electric current so as to heat the PTC thermistor, in which a resistance of the PTC thermistor increases when a temperature of the PTC thermistor increases within a stabilised temperature range, a lower end of the stabilised temperature range being, when a constant voltage is applied to the PTC thermistor, a reference temperature at which the resistance of the PTC thermistor is twice a value of a minimum resistance of the PTC thermistor, and in which the reference temperature is between about 100° C. and about 350° C. when a constant voltage of 3.3V is applied to the PTC thermistor.
