Abstract: A thermionic cathode including a support in the form of a metal sheet with an electron-emissive coating on one side and a coating of gas-binding material on the opposite side. The sheet may be formed into a tube and the electron-emissive coating may be on the outside or inside and the gas-binding material on the opposite side. Such cathodes may be employed in electric discharge tubes, such as cathode-ray tubes and low-pressure gasdischarge lamps.
