Abstract: A method for activating a cesium-activated III-V compound photocathode is described. Prior to covering with the cesium, the cathode surface is subjected to intensive cleaning by heating for several hours at a maximum temperature of 300* C. and then the surface is bombarded with slow rare gas ions.
