Abstract: Fluorinated products are recovered from an effluent stream from an electrolytic cell in an electrochemical fluorination process by employing a combination of steps comprising cooling said effluent stream to a temperature near its dew point but insufficient to cause any significant condensation thereof, compressing said cooled effluent stream, chilling said compressed effluent stream to a temperature sufficient to condense at least the major portion of the components thereof other than hydrogen, and recovering fluorinated products from said chilled stream. In a preferred embodiment the initial cooling of said effluent stream is effected by directly contacting same with a liquid stream comprising the feedstock to the electrolytic cell.
