    Abstract: A carcass sleeve including a carcass ply and a pair of annular anchoring structures is fitted around a toroidal forming drum arranged in a first radially contracted operational condition. The carcass sleeve is toroidally shaped against a radially inner surface of an annular contrast element. The forming drum is positioned inside the carcass sleeve and is concurrently expanded towards a second operational condition. Upon reaching the second operational condition, the toroidally shaped carcass sleeve is coupled to the forming drum. The forming drum, coupled to the carcass sleeve, is adapted to be transferred in proximity of an application device of additional components externally to the carcass sleeve.

    Abstract: A process and apparatus for manufacturing tyres for vehicle wheels includes the step of building, on a forming support, a belt structure including at least one reinforcing structure of the so-called zero-degree type. The reinforcing structure is formed by depositing a continuous elongated reinforcing element on a deposition surface arranged in a radially outer position with respect to the forming support. The aforementioned deposition includes the step of exerting, through at least one element made from magnetic material, a magnetic attraction on a portion of the continuous elongated reinforcing element arranged at at least one pressing member and moving said at least one pressing member toward the forming support until the continuous elongated reinforcing element is brought into contact with the deposition surface.

    Abstract: A process for building tyres for vehicle wheels includes feeding to at least one work station an elongated element provided with two service fabrics and wound on a storage coil. The aforementioned feeding includes unwinding, the elongated element from the storage coil, removing the two service fabrics from the elongated element, and collecting each of the two service fabrics on a respective collecting member. Each service fabric can thus be subsequently used independently from the other. For example, one service fabric can be reused while the other can be disposed. The removal and collection of the two service fabrics occurs simultaneously with the unwinding of the elongated element, so as not to increase the overall building time of the tyre being processed.

    Abstract: Method, process and plant for building tires for vehicle wheels wherein: in a service position of a carcass structure building line, a forming drum is associated with a pair of support elements including a first support element and a second support element; the forming drum is moved, associated with the pair of support elements, in a deposition line in the carcass structure building line; and the forming drum is transferred from the deposition line to a subsequent work station of the carcass structure building line. The transfer from the deposition line to the subsequent work station includes dissociating the forming drum from the second support element, keeping the forming drum associated with the first support element; transferring the forming drum, associated with the first support element and dissociated from the second support element, to the subsequent work station; dissociating, in the subsequent work station, the first support element from the forming drum, leaving the forming drum in the subsequent work station; and transferring the first support element, dissociated from the forming drum, into the service position.

    Abstract: Within tyre manufacturing, a reinforcing structure of the tyre, such as the zero-degree layer of the belt structure, is made by an apparatus having devices for guiding a continuous elongated element towards a forming drum, devices for applying the elongated element against a laying surface of the drum, and a cutting unit to cut off the continuous elongated element when application has been completed. Once the cutting operation has been carried out, the free end of the continuous elongated element is set to a grip position downstream of the cutting unit, through a reciprocating slider and a threading element blocking the continuous elongated element with respect to the slider when the latter moves towards the forming drum.
