Abstract: A measuring cap for use on containers is disclosed. This cap has a hollow cap body divided into an entrance chamber and a measuring chamber by an internal wall. A lid is rotatably mounted on the top of the cap body so as to be capable of being rotated between a closed position covering the top of the body and an open position in which the top of the body is uncovered. A valve member is attached to the lid so as to rotate therewith. This valve member is formed so that when the lid is in a closed position, the two chambers are in communication with one another and so that when the lid is in an open position the entrance chamber is covered.

Abstract: Closure structures which are constructed so that when pressure is applied to a portion of a cap in a closed position on a base that the cap is tilted to a position in which it can be moved from the closed position can be constructed by using a fulcrum means adjacent to spaced surfaces on the base and the cap. Flange means on the base and the cap are normally engaged when the cap is in a closed position so as to hold the cap in the closed position. These flange means are at least partially disengaged as a result of the rotation of the cap indicated.

Abstract: Dispensing closures each having a closure body and a spout rotatably mounted on the closure body so as to be capable of being rotated between open and closed positions can be constructed so as to be incapable of accidental or unintentional opening under normal circumstances by the use of the latch means and a catch means. Either of these means can be located on the body and the other on the spout. These means are constructed so that they will engage one another, preventing undesired spout rotation, upon the spout being assembled in a closed position. By manipulation of the latch means the spout in a closure as described can be rotated from a closed position to an open position once the closure has been assembled with the spout in a closed position.

Abstract: It is conventional to form a container closure so that a skirt on the closure includes a mounting means capable of being snapped over a corresponding mounting means on a container neck. Such interengaging mounting means are normally flange or bead-like structures permitting the closure to be rotated on a container neck after assembly. Such a structure may be modified to increase the difficulty of removing such a closure from such a neck by including interlocking means on the closure and on the container. Such interlocking means prevent rotation of the closure, increasing the difficulty involved in removing the closure from the container.

Abstract: A dispensing closure constructed so as to include a closure base adapted to be mounted on a container and a spout member movably mounted on the base so as to be capable of being moved relative to the base without being detached from the base between opened and closed positions can be improved through the incorporation of an elongated, flexible probe mounted on the base. The probe used is located on the base so as to extend into a passage in the spout. When the spout member is moved from the opened position to the closed position, the probe extends an increasing distance into this passage so as to tend to push from the passage any material which may have accumulated within the passage. The passage and the probe are dimensioned so that the probe does not interfere with the movement of material through the passage when the spout member is in an opened position.

Abstract: A child resistant dispensing closure having a cap which is adapted to be secured to a container and which has an opening extending therethrough and also having a spout rotatably mounted on the cap so as to be capable of being rotated between a closed and an open position relative to the opening of the cap can be constructed using a cam movably mounted on the cap.
