Abstract:
An aperture forming structure, which when attached to or integrally formed in dispenser packages for flowable substances allows reclosure and single or multiple uses. The aperture forming structure includes a break away tip member of thermoformable plastic. The break away tip includes a hollow protrusion from a surface. The intersection of the hollow protrusion and the surface is a fault line. Rupturing of the fault line creates an aperture from which the contents of the dispenser package may exit. A cap may be integrally formed with the aperture forming structure and detached for protecting the hollow protrusion or for closing the aperture created when the fault line is ruptured. The aperture forming structure can be made by heating a relatively stiff substantially flat thermoformable sheet of and then stretching the sheet to create a first and a second hollow protrusion in a tiered configuration. A rupture line is placed at the intersection of the first and the second protrusions. The sheet may be attached to a pouch or containment member formed from a flexible sheet which contains any flowable substance.
Abstract:
A hole-forming device includes a pointed shaft which is raisable to a position facing a bottom of a can. The shaft is slidably supported on a support plate, with its lower end projecting downward below the support plate. With the hole-forming device mounted on the bottom of the can, and the bottom of the hole-forming device on a surface, such as a floor, a downward force on the can urges the pointed end of the shaft into the bottom of the can to safely puncture the can.
Abstract:
A sealing member inside the bag and a withdrawing member outside the bag can be interplugged and cooperate by complimentary conical sealing surfaces to dispense flowable material from the bag. A retaining member is attached to the outer side of the bag wall and clamps a portion of the bag wall between the retaining member and the sealing member to allow a plastic deformation of that portion by the withdrawing member until it ruptures.
Abstract:
A container provided for the controlled dispensing of powders and liquids which compress,a container body,an extremely threaded neck provided on said container body,a cylindrical, tubular extension member axially connected at one end to the externally threaded container neck, the cylindrical, tubular extension member having an inner base compressing a calibrated portion and terminating at the other end thereof in a divergent frustoconical outlet mouth portion,a rupturable transverse membrane diaphragm scalingly separating the calibrated portion from the outlet mouth portion,a circumferential groove provided on the outer surface of said tubular extension member, in the vicinity of the diaphragm,a cylindrical capsule acting as a scaling and rescaling device, the capsule having at one end thereof an internally threaded portion adapted for screw engagement with the externally threaded neck, andan elastic training ring circumferentially provided on the inner surface of the cylindrical capsule for spring-engagement with said circumferential groove, whereby when the restraining ring is engaged on said circumferential groove, the axial movement of the cylindrical capsule relative to the extremely threaded neck is prevented.
Abstract:
A two-chamber container for two gas-pressurized components kept separately, for example liquids which are miscible. An outer chamber contains a first component and is provided with a dispensing valve whose interposed connecting member leads from the interior of the outer chamber to the outside and is adapted to be closed by a plug. The second component is contained in an inner chamber mounted in the interior of the outer chamber. The inner chamber is an entirely separate, self-contained vessel supported in the interior of the outer chamber. The interior end of the interposed connecting member terminates in a cup-shaped receptor member which is disposed above and around the distal end portion of the inner chamber such that a radial and axial clearance of 1-2 mm between the receptor member and the distal end is provided. The inner chamber has a desired rupture site which can be broken by force from outside, for example by pivoting or pushing-in the dispensing valve. In this manner ready communication is established between the interiors of the two containers so that spontaneously complete mixing of the two components is achieved.
Abstract:
A device for dispensing flowable material through a flexible wall of a bag, comprising a sealing part provided in the bag, and a dispensing part provided outside of the bag, the dispensing part being adapted to be mated with the sealing part as it penetrates the bag wall to form a throughgoing connection sealed against the bag wall around the opening. The sealing part and the dispensing part include, outside of the areas surrounded by their bag sealing around the opening, cooperating interlocking means which upon mating of the parts engage between them and stretch the wall of the bag taut before the bag wall is cut, and which engage in an interlocking position at the end of the mating movement of the parts.
Abstract:
An improved mechanical control device for ball valve type valve systems operable by one hand, in which actuation of the valve ball is caused by squeezing a pair of levers, one fixed lever rigidly attached to the valve housing, the other movable lever pivotably attached to the valve housing and upon squeezing, causing a gudgeon pin to translate, which in turn causes the valve ball to rotate.
Abstract:
A closure for a disposable container is disclosed from which a liquid may be pressure dispensed. The container has a mouth and the closure comprises a closure body cooperable with the container mouth for closing the container mouth. The closure body is sealably secured with respect to the container mouth and a nipple is provided on the inner face of the closure body for operatively securing a dip tube thereto, with the dip tube extending into the liquid within the container. The nipple is centrally located with respect to the mouth. A first puncturable area is provided is provided on the closure body, blocking the outflow of liquid from the container via the dip tube, and a second puncturable area, located radially outwardly of the nipple is provided such that with a first puncturing tube puncturing the first puncturable area, and with a second puncturing tube puncturing the second puncturable area and being in communication with a source of compressed gas, the liquid within the container may be dispensed via the first puncturing tube.
Abstract:
A fluid flow valve having a rigid tube associated therewith for extending into a tank. In one embodiment, an on-off gas valve includes an extension threadedly mounted thereto with an insert positioned between the extension and valve. A passage extends from the valve through the insert and extension to a rigid tube attached to the extension and a flexible hose attached to the tube. A spring biased safety valve has a stem slidably mounted to the insert and is operable to close the passage in the insert preventing fluid flow. In another embodiment the tube is attached to an insert positioned in the tank passage receiving an on-off valve.
Abstract:
To prepare and apply two-component cement, the components are vacuum-packaged in elongated flexible fluid-tight compartments and those compartments are confined in abutting relation with a seal existing around the abutting portions of the compartments. One of the compartments is gradually collapsed to force its contents to break through the abutting wall portions into the other compartment while the extension of the other compartment is controlled as it receives the one compartment contents so as to enhance the intimacy of contact between the cement components. Then the other compartment is gradually collapsed to force its contents into the one compartment while controlling the extension of the one compartment as it receives the other compartment contents so as to further mix the components. The two compartments are alternately collapsed and controlledly extended until the components therein form a homogeneous cementitious mixture. Then a nozzle is attached to one of the compartments in lieu of the other compartment and the one compartment is collapsed to expel the mixture through the nozzle to the deposition site. Specific apparatus for preparing and applying the cement is also disclosed.
