Abstract: A device capable of directly diverting data through UART port is disclosed. The device can be made to be an integrated circuit (IC) chip, so as to be disposed on a circuit board with a USB connector and three UART connectors, thereby forming a USB to UART converter. When using the USB to UART converter, the USB connector is connected to a host computer, and one UART connector is connected to an electronic device. As such, the device provides the host computer with one virtual COM port, such that the host computer is able to conduct a data transmission with the electronic device through the virtual COM port. Moreover, during the data transmission, a data monitoring electronic device is able to hear the transmitted data by way of diverting the transmitted data through the other two UART connectors.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for automatically identifying host operating system. By applying the method of automatically identifying host operating system in a USB control unit of a USB device by a form of application program, library, variables, and/or operands, the USB control unit is therefore provided with a host operating system identifying function. As such, in case of a specific OS of a host device applying a USB enumeration to the forgoing USB device, the central processing unit would automatically identify (or detect) what the specific OS is. For example, the specific OS is identified as an Apple iOS operating system, a Microsoft Windows operating system, an Apple Mac OS operating system, or a Google Android operating system.

Abstract: A bridge device having data monitoring function is disclosed. The bridge device can be made to be an integrated circuit (IC) chip, so as to be disposed on a circuit board with a USB connector and a UART connector, thereby forming a USB to UART converter. When using the USB to UART converter, the USB connector is connected to a host computer, and the UART connector is connected to an electronic device. As such, the bridge device provides the host computer with at least three virtual COM ports, such that the host computer is able to conduct a data transmission with the electronic device through one virtual COM port. Moreover, during the data transmission, the host computer is also able to hear the transmitted data by way of diverting the transmitted data through the other two virtual COM ports.

Abstract: A USB hub device having functionality of self firmware updating is disclosed. The USB hub device is integrated in a host electronic system, and comprises an upstream port, a plurality of downstream ports and a hub module comprising a plurality of second USB controller units. On the other hand, the host electronic system has a second USB controller unit. After one electronic device is coupled to one downstream port, the first USB controller unit sends a detection signal for verifying whether the electronic device includes at least one firmware update data or not. In case of the electronic device being verified to have the firmware update data, the hub module transmit the firmware update data from the electronic device to a memory unit thereof, thereby completing a firmware update of the USB hub device.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method and a device capable of automatically identifying host operating system. For the conventionally-used USB devices or USB bridge interfaces cannot effectively identify all kinds of Operation Systems (OS) from an electronic device, the present invention proposes a novel USB device consisting of: a USB physical interface, a central processing unit, and at least one peripheral interface controller; wherein the central processing unit is particularly embedded with an OS identifying library. Moreover, the present invention simultaneously proposes an automatic OS identifying method, which particularly consists of a plurality of OS identifying steps designed based on conventional USB enumeration procedures. Thus, when a specific OS of a host device treats this novel USB device with a USB enumeration, the OS identifying library is able to detect the kind of the specific OS installed in the host device, according to the plurality of OS identifying steps.
