摘要： A vehicle mounted switching arrangement for use in a static switching track structure having no moving track sections whereby the passenger vehicle is moved laterally by engagement of the car mounted rail grabbing device to permit the flange of the wheel opposite the actuated rail engaging device to be spaced a short distance from the supporting rail. After the lateral movement of the vehicle the car is in position to move into a switch track which is positioned in the space between the wheel flange and main supporting rail. This switch track then permits the passenger vehicle to be switched off the main line and through a curved section into a second switch track. The rail grabbing mechanism which is mounted on the passenger vehicle includes an interconnected rail grabbing device on each side of the vehicle which permit only one rail grabbing arm to engage a track at a time.

摘要： A railway car truck includes a bolster assembly having a transverse beam structure on which side bearings are mounted. The assembly further includes a pair of leaf springs which extend transversely with the beam and have their ends connected to the side frames of the truck. The side frames include means for permitting pivotal movement of the leaf spring assemblies during lateral swinging movement of the side frames. The side frames include depending webs and upwardly extending flanges at opposite ends of the web which support outwardly longitudinally projecting hinge plates which support the side frame on journal boxes carried at the ends of wheel axles. The journal boxes include a pivot saddle within which the pivot plates are supported. Upwardly extending stop plates connected to the journal boxes include rubber type biscuits which engage the pivot plates and resiliently bias the same against lateral swinging movement.

摘要： A side of track closure mechanism is provided for engaging and exerting an inwardly directed lateral thrust against bottom dump doors in their open position for hingedly moving the doors inwardly into a closed position. The actuating mechanism includes a rotating lever having actuating means at opposite ends thereof and includes means for positioning the actuating means sequentially in position so that they engage the doors of dump cars movable on a track alongside the closure mechanism.

摘要： In a hopper car arrangement, a hopper car door pneumatic actuating system including the standard air reservoir tank and a railroad car actuated ground-mounted induction coil, and a solenoid valve energized thereby, for opening the hopper doors, and a railroad car actuated ground-mounted induction coil and a solenoid valve for closing the doors whereby a supply valve and a four-way pilot valve is actuated to supply pressurized air from the tank to selectively operate a two-way acting air cylinder attendant to opening and closing of the hopper doors, and a latch for holding the supply valve open until the doors are closed and a flow control check valve in the train-line adjacent the air receiver tank to block off any rapid drop in pressure in the air reservoir tank to prevent application of the air brakes when operating the hopper doors.
