Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods and systems for interacting with data in a data repository. After automatically populating one or more display elements with data items from a first dataset, one or more unpopulated display elements can be identified that can be populated with one or more additional data items from another dataset in a data repository. A second dataset that is joined to the first dataset can be identified based on template definitions associated with the display elements. The second dataset can include the one or more additional data items corresponding to the one or more unpopulated display elements. The one or more unpopulated display elements can be populated with the one or more additional data items retrieved from the second dataset to update the graphical user interface.

Other operations comprise loading an object template in dependence on the determined object type, populating the template with data from the data repository in dependence on the search request to create an object view, and displaying the object view within the data catalogue environment. The data repository comprises a plurality of joined datasets, and wherein the object view comprises one or more links to items in a joined dataset.
