摘要:
Detergent laundry bars of acceptable mildness, detergency, foaming properties, processing characteristics and resistance to breakage are described which are based on built water soluble salts of alpha-sulfo-higher fatty acid-lower alcohol ester detergent and/or alpha-sulfo-higher fatty acid-amide, and which contain bentonite, which acts as a bodying agent for the laundry bars, facilitating production thereof, and contributing fabric softening properties to laundry washed with such laundry bars. When the bentonite is omitted or is replaced by water insoluble filler, such as calcium carbonate powder, and the alpha-sulfo-fatty acid derivative detergent is employed as an aqueous solution, bars made are not of acceptable hardness and such compositions are not satisfactorily processable in conventional soapmaking apparatuses. Also described are processes for converting aqueous solutions of alpha-sulfo-fatty acid derivative detergent to solid form by treatment with bentonite, and for making detergent laundry bars from such solidified detergent.

Detergent laundry bars of improved physical characteristics, including improved resistance to breakage on handling, are described which include 10 to 35% of sodium higher fatty alcohol sulfate detergent, 10 to 60% of builder for the detergent mixture, a bodying proportion, in the range of 10 to 60% of water insoluble powder, 1 to 10% of higher fatty lower alkanolamide, 0.2 to 5% of glycerol, with the ratio of alkanolamide to glycerol being in the range of 1:5 to 25:1, and 5 to 20% of water (including that which is removable from any hydrate components when the bar is subjected to heating at 105.degree. C. for two hours). Preferably the invented bars will comprise 10 to 25% of sodium coco alcohol sulfate or equivalent sodium higher fatty alcohol sulfate, up to 5 or 10% of secondary detergents, 15 to 30% of sodium tripolyphosphate, 5 to 25% of sodium carbonate, 0 to 10% of sodium silicate, 10 to 50% of calcium carbonate powder, 3 to 7% of cocomonoethanolamide; 0.3 to 1% of glycerol, with the ratio of cocomonoethanolamide:glycerol being in the range of 2:1 to 25:1, and 5 to 12% of water. The described bars, which preferably are milled and plodded, exhibit better resistance to breakage on handling than do bars of similar formulas which do not contain the ethanolamide and glycerol, which is very surprising. They are also of acceptable hardness and do not slough or erode excessively on standing in contact with water, and in use. The bars process satisfactorily and foam well, too.

Detergent laundry bars of acceptable mildness, foaming properties and processing characteristics are described which are based on built higher fatty alcohol ethoxylate sulfate detergent and which contain bentonite, which acts as a bodying agent for the laundry bars, facilitating production thereof, and contributes fabric softening properties to laundry washed with such laundry bar. When the bentonite is omitted or is replaced by water insoluble filler, such as calcium carbonate powder, bars made are not of acceptable hardness and such compositions are not satisfactorily processable in conventional soapmaking apparatuses. Also described are processes for converting aqueous solutions of higher fatty alcohol ethoxylate sulfate detergent to solid form by treatment with bentonite, and for making detergent laundry bars from such solidified detergent.
摘要:
Detergent laundry bars which are mild to the hands of a user, of good foaming properties during hand washing of laundry and of good processing characteristics, include 10 to 30% of water soluble salt of alpha-sulfo-higher fatty acid-lower alcohol ester, 10 to 50% of builder for such detergent, a bodying proportion, in the range of 20 to 70%, of water insoluble powder and/or sodium sulfate filler, and 5 to 20% of water. Preferably, this improved detergent laundry bar includes 18 to 22% of sodium alpha-sulfo-higher fatty acid methyl ester, 8 to 20% of sodium tripolyphosphate, 5 to 15% of sodium carbonate, 2 to 5% of sodium silicate, 20 to 35% of calcium carbonate, 5 to 15% of talc and 10 to 15% of water. Also within the invention is a process for manufacturing such detergent laundry bars wherein the components of the laundry bar composition which are in powder form are all pre-mixed, followed by admixing, with the pre-mix, of liquid components of the detergent composition, including sodium silicate, in aqueous solution, water and perfume, in that order, and the mixture is amalgamated, milled, plodded under vaccum, cut to desired lengths and pressed to desired form.

Detergent laundry bars of improved foaming properties during hand washing of laundry are described which include 15 to 45% of a mixture of 0.05 to 20 parts of sodium higher fatty alcohol sulfate and 1 part of sodium alpha-sulfo-higher fatty acid lower alkyl ester, 10 to 60% of a builder for the detergent mixture, a bodying proportion, in the range of 20 to 70%, of water insoluble powder and/or sodium sulfate filler, and 5 to 22% of water (including that which is removable from any hydrate components when the bar is subjected to heating at 105.degree. C. for two hours). Preferably the invented bars will comprise 5 to 20% of sodium coco alcohol sulfate, 10 to 20% of sodium alpha-sulfo-higher fatty acid methyl ester, 8 to 20% of sodium tripolyphosphate, 5 to 15% of sodium carbonate, 1 to 6% of sodium silicate, 20 to 35% of calcium carbonate powder, 0 to 15% of talc and 7 to 11% of water. The described bars, which are preferably milled and plodded, exhibit better foaming properties in use, with initial foaming, persistence of foaming and regeneration of foam when the wash water is re-used (especially regeneration foaming) being greater than those of comparable bars in which sodium higher fatty alcohol sulfate is employed alone. The invented laundry bars are also milder to the hands and human skin than comparable bars based on sodium higher fatty alcohol sulfate as the sole anionic detergent thereof. The invented bar formula is also more easily processable during production than bars of similar formulas, but which contain either higher alcohol sulfate or alpha-sulpho-higher fatty acid methyl ester, so that the manufacturing throughput rates may be increased, power consumption may be lowered, and a more homogeneous product may be produced. Also described are a process for manufacturing the present detergent laundry bars, a method of testing them for foaming characteristics, and a foam test apparatus.
