Abstract: An electrode catalyst for an electrochemical device, the electrode catalyst including: mesoporous carbon particles having an average crystallite size along a 002 plane of greater than or equal to 1.6 nm and less than or equal to 3.4 nm; and catalyst metal particles supported on the mesoporous carbon particles. The mesoporous carbon particles have an average particle diameter of primary particles of greater than or equal to 500 nm.
