    Abstract: Systems and methods for Radio Access Network dynamic functional splits are de-scribed. In one embodiment, a method may be disclosed for Radio Access Network dynamic func-tional splits, comprising: determining, by a user for a RAN, a first split of different functionalities between a central Unit (CU) and a Distributed Unit (DU), the functionalities including a Radio Resource Controller (RRC), a Packet Data Convergence Protocol (PDCP), a Radio Link Control (RLC); a Medium Access control (MAC), a Physical Layer (PHY), and a Radio Frequency Unit (RF); and wherein the system is able to provide different splits of the functionalities based on fac-tors such as user count, fronthaul capacity, fronthaul usage, required baseband processing capacity, and latency.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a method is disclosed for port reduction, comprising: calculating, at a distributed unit (DU), beamforming weights based on received DMRS channel estimates; sending the calculated beamforming weights to a radio unit (RU); applying, at the RU, port reduction to DMRS symbols based on the calculated beamforming weights; compressing IQ data and received DMRS symbol data to compensate for an underlying bandwidth increase, thereby enabling beamforming at the RU. PUSCH data may be compressed. Beamforming weight calculations may be performed in the O-DU. Beamforming weight calculations may be provided to the L2 scheduler. BFP format compression may be performed. Channel information may be compressed for non-signal data. DMRS compression may be performed at the CU. The DMRS pattern may be received from the control plane. An equalizer weight calculation may be performed to merge a plurality of CSI estimates from different RUs for a given user to calculate joint equalization. The method may further comprise applying, at the RU, port reduction to both PUSCH and DMRS symbols. Beamforming may be performed for uplink, for downlink, or both.

    Abstract: Methods and systems are presented for providing a 4G-5G Open RAN User Plane Path. In one embodiment a method includes keeping, by a Distributed Unit (DU)/Centralized Unit (CU)-User Plane (UP), a list of local switch enabled subscribers; receiving an uplink data packet for a local switch enabled subscriber from a source device; comparing , by the DU/CU-UP, if a destination Internet Protocol (IP) address matches with any of IP addresses in the local switch enabled subscriber destination device IP addresses; and when the destination IP address matches, then switching by the DU/CU-UP the traffic and sending the data packet as a downlink traffic towards the destination device.
