摘要: The present invention relates to unsubscribing from notification of future messages in an existing message thread. A method for controlling user notification of future electronic mail (email) messages in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention includes: receiving an email message addressed to a user; determining if the email message belongs to an existing message thread; and in the case the email message belongs to an existing message thread, presenting the user with a selection of a plurality of options for controlling notification of future emails addressed to the user and belonging to the existing message thread.

摘要: A network device such as a server monitors user behavior and provides subscriptions to documents based at least in part on that behavior. Subscription triggers include requesting at least a predetermined percentage of the entire document, requesting at least a predetermined number of pages in a document, and requesting a document at least a predetermined number of times. If documents are organized in a root and branch structure, the subscription may be triggered based on the extent to which documents are requested in the structure, e.g., triggered upon request for a branch document related to a root document. Subscriptions may also be limited to a portion of a document, such as a branch document associated with a root document.

摘要: A system and method allows an email user to solicit an email thread from another user (or from a server) in situations where the first requesting user may have been added to an email thread after the email thread was started, or in situations where the user may have an incomplete thread (for example, where a user is being added to a thread where an attachment was removed). The complete thread is returned to the first requesting user, after permission has been sought and granted, and after data mining and intelligent aggregation of a plurality of relevant threads in to one interleaved result is performed and returned to the first requesting user.

At least one client device being operably associated via a network with the server device. The at least one client device configured to add new E-MAIL recipients to the E-MAIL thread of the distributed E-MAIL message via a user interface (UI) having a menu selection for adding recipients to the thread. The UI being operably associated with the client device and the server device. The client device is further configured to add the identity of the new E-MAIL recipient to a persistent store table located on the client device.

摘要: A system that enables a user to conveniently reduce the size of one or more mailboxes stored on the client computer system. The user can indicate that “unimportant” email messages are to be removed from one or more mailboxes. Unimportant email messages are automatically removed before important ones. To calculate the importance of a message for a given user, message attributes such as users associated with and/or terms contained in the message are compared against a personal interest profile associated with the local user. Additionally, dates associated with the message, such as when the message was added to the mailbox, and/or when the message was last read, may be used to further determine message importance. The size of a message may also be considered when determining whether a message should be removed.

摘要: Described is a method for generating a parametric search statement for finding a target document. The parametric search statement is generated in the text boxes of a search bar. A user action is performed in the text box. An in-place context menu having menu items responsive to the user action are displayed near the location of the user action. Each menu item includes at least one of an attribute of the target document, a comparison operator and a value. One of the menu items is selected from the in-place context menu based on a known characteristic of the target document. Parametric search statements are easily generated using the method without the need to access numerous dialogs boxes or to enter significant text.

摘要: A method and system for preventing recipients from being added and/or removed from a message thread in an e-mail and/or calendaring application. Recipients of a thread message may be allowed to seek and obtain permission from a thread originator to insert a recipient to and/or remove a recipient from the thread. The originating user of a message thread can prevent insertion and/or removal of recipients in an e-mail message thread and/or a calendaring system invitation message by selecting from corresponding message composition user interface options. A mechanism persistently registers the recipient removal and/or insertion settings provided by the originating user, for example as settings stored in and conveyed with the messages themselves. The originating user can permit non-originating users to insert and/or remove recipients from the thread. The originating user can select an option in the message composition user interface that requires and/or allows non-originating users to request permission to insert and/or remove a recipient to a thread. The permission request is forwarded to the originating user, who can then accept or reject the request. The originating user can also expressly list or otherwise indicate which user(s) cannot be inserted into the message thread, and/or which recipients cannot be removed from the message thread.

摘要: A system for automatically providing notifications to a user regarding interesting content, which automatically collects information regarding persons that are important to the user, as well as indications of important content sources. The important content sources are then monitored for actions performed by one of the important persons for the user, and notifications are generated to the user in the event that the important person performs an action on a document or other information item stored in the important content source. Important persons for a user may be determined through a communication application used by the user, such as an electronic mail program, instant messaging program, or the like, in response to indications of persons that the user has either sent messages to and/or received messages from. The notifications may be provided through the user's communication application, by electronic mail messages, instant messages, or the like. The notification may include a name, identifier, or other indication of the important person that performed the action on the important content source. Notifications may be provided to the user in response to any specific kind of action by the important persons on an important content source, such as create operations, modify operations, and/or delete operations.

摘要: A system for providing version control for documents attached to electronic mail messages in which a user's personal document library is used to store documents attached to the email messages the user sends and/or receives. Each time an attached document is transmitted or received within a message thread, a different version of the document is created and stored in the personal document library. The multiple document versions created allow the disclosed system to provide the user with the options of opening the most recent version of an attached document and/or opening the version of the attached document that is associated with the specific opened message. An attached document is represented within an email message using a URL (Uniform Resource Locator), where the stored URL points to the version of the attached document for that message that is stored in the user's personal document library. Through an API (Application Programming Interface) provided by the personal document library, the most recent version of a document can be requested, or another specific version of the document can be indicated for opening.
