摘要： A casket of the type which allows it to be personalized to the deceased comprises a shell, a cap closable upon the shell and a cap insert removably secured onto an upper side of the cap and including themed designs that are personalized to the deceased. The casket cap may include an embossed or recessed area to receive the personalized cap insert. The cap insert is secured to the casket cap by flexing the insert to create a frictional fit between the edges of the cap insert and the embossed area. The casket may further include a mounting adaptor having a base secured to the embossed area and at least one vertical spacer to which a generally planar cap insert is removably secured. The cap insert may have various sayings, symbols, or other themed designs formed therein with special meaning to the deceased thus providing a more personalized funeral experience.

A cast paper product is used for the various three-dimensional designs in or on the cap panel or cap panel insert. In particular, a three-dimensional design may be formed integral to the cap panel or cap panel insert through a molding process that provides a wide variety of sculpted shapes that can be tailored to meet the specific desires of a family to reflect a particular feature or trait of the deceased. The cast paper cap panel or cap panel insert can be integrated into a dish assembly to provide the decorative aspects of a burial casket lid during a showing.

The casket lid may include a dish mounted to the under side of the casket lid, with the alcove structure being mounted to the dish. The dish may have a panel which may include an opening, with the alcove structure mounted in the opening. An alcove structure mounting adaptor may be mounted in the opening, with the alcove structure being mounted to the adaptor. The mounting adaptor may include a fastener fastening the alcove structure to the mounting adaptor. The alcove structure may include a fastener adapted to removably retain the ornament in the alcove structure. The dish may include a one piece cap panel with the alcove structure integrally formed in the cap panel. A one piece dish may include a cap panel, puffing members, and alcove structure integrally formed with each other in a unitary structure.
