摘要： The present invention relates to the use of halides and halide salts for the treatment of microbial infections, including those caused by bacteria, fungi and viruses. The present invention takes advantage of endogenous immune function and augments this system using a non-toxic and inexpensive reagent that can be delivered to mucosal surfaces, for example, orally, topically, opthalmically and via inhalation.
